Tendai Dembo honours late dad

Musician Tendai Dembo, pictured, has lined up a new album which he said is meant to honour his late father and sungura great, Leonard.

Titled Madzinde, the six-track album will be the musician’s third album and will be launched on April 12 at East Point in the capital.

He said the event will also mark as a commemoration gig for his father who was also referred by the moniker “Musoro Wenyoka” who died in 1996.

“The preparations are at an advanced stage. This is my third album and it will be a dedication to my late father. He died on April 9, hence the album launch is part of the Dembo commemorations,” he said.

Songs on the album are Rufu, Sori, Dhiya Wangu, Chemedzai, Changu and Mupi Wemazano.

Tendai, regarded as the level-headed one between the late great’s two sons, has tried to be his own man with two albums Kupakwashe and Mushando under his belt.

He has been holding shows across the country to ensure that the brand Dembo remains afloat. He once worked with his brother Morgan who is now pursuing his own career, all in a bid to uphold the Dembo name.

His latest project is being produced by veterans Jabulani Ndlovu and Bothwell Nyamhondera.
