NetOne calls PSL quartet

MOBILE telecommunications giant NetOne will pour in  excess of $1,5 million as part of its sponsorship to four premier League teams — CAPS United, Highlanders, Chapungu and Black Rhinos — for the 2019 season.

NetOne announced the bumper sponsorship package at a lavish ceremony at a Harare hotel last night.
This is the second year the telecommunications company is partnering with local clubs.

Last season, NetOne was the principal sponsor for CAPS, Highlanders, Dynamos, Chapungu and Black Rhinos but the Glamour Boys have not been retained for this season.

Speaking at last night’s event, NetOne chief executive officer Lazarus Muchenje said they have upped the ante in their collaboration with the PSL teams.

“We drew a lot of inspiration from the positives we recorded from the partnership last year and are taking the partnership to the next level,” Muchenje said.

“Globally, the game of football has evolved over the past few decades, from being a mere pastime to a sustainable career for many.

“Football is a unifying sport that presents an opportunity for people from all walks of life to come together and support their favourite clubs.

“NetOne subscribers also make up a huge portion of the football fan base.”
Muchenje added: “These funds will assist in cushioning the teams in their quest to win the league.

“The sponsorship package also allows the teams to be properly kitted for the season as they seek to maintain their professional outlook.

“Our partnership is renewable subject to all parties adhering to the terms and conditions of their sponsorship agreements.
“Last season the teams we sponsored did not perform as expected and this season we are hoping for better fortunes.

“As such, a portion of the sponsorship amount will be a performance-based incentive which will be unlocked by individual team players for their exceptional display of talent on their field of play.

“There will also be performance bonuses for the team as a whole, on a sustained performance record. These will include and are not limited to the following:

  • Top goal scorer for the season
  • Incentives for every goal scored by a player in a single match
  • Brace/two goals in one match by the same player
  • Hat-tricks/ three goals in one match by the same player
  • Goal keeper not conceding to a goal over five consecutive games
  • Winning the league
  • Coming up in the top three in the Championship League
