... as Kamusena loses equipment to  Cyclone Idai

SMOKO musician Lee Roy “Kamusena” Lunga, who hails from Mozambique, lost property including houses and his musical equipment in Tete Province in the wake of the devastating Cyclone Idai.

The former Boyz dzeSmoko guitarist, backing vocalist and dancer confirmed the news: “It happened when I was here in Zimbabwe. The main house was razed to the ground. I lost furniture and my musical instruments due to heavy rains in Mozambique.

“I almost lost a drummer due to flooding. I was left with nothing and I do not know how I am going to recover,” he said.
During his days with Chazezesa Challengers band Lunga worked with the late System and Peter Tazvida alongside Lucky Mumiriki among others.
Lunga is now fronting his own outfit called Boyz dzeSena.
Meanwhile, the tropical cyclone left a trail of destruction in Mozambique and then reached Zimbabwe on March 15, knocking down trees and destroying key infrastructure and hundreds of homes in the process, mainly in Manicaland.

In Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and some parts of South Africa the devastating cyclone swept away schools, bridges and homes.

In Manicaland Province of Zimbabwe, government confirmed the death of more than 100 people while at least 300 people were reportedly missing.
