Bosso running out of time

Highlanders assistant coach Bekithemba Ndlovu admitted time is slowly running out for the Bulawayo giants to fully prepare for the upcoming 2019 Castle Lager Premiership season as the standoff between players and the management over salaries enters the third week.

Bosso players are determined to continue with their strike until their grievances are fully addressed by the team’s leadership and on Sunday the club’s technical team struggled to come up with a matchday squad before losing 4-0 to Chicken Inn in a friendly match at Barbourfields.

The Bulawayo giants fielded predominantly players from their developmental side Bosso 90 and a few new signings in the form of Cleopas Kapupurika, Prince Dube, Russell Chifura, Mbekezeli Sibanda and goalkeeper Wellington Muuya.
Charlton Siamalonga, Bukhosi Ncube, Vincent Moyo and Under-20 captain Andrew Mbeba were probably the only players from those that featured for Highlanders last season.
And at final whistle Ndlovu could not hide his frustrations on the current situation.
“We are still in the pre-season; it’s worrying as the ongoing strike is affecting our preparations. Most of the players are not with the team because of some things they need to solve with the management. These things are affecting everyone, not only the technical team but the team as a whole,” Ndlovu said.
“The players are losing out a lot from what is happening now. From my experience, what I know is games will be played as per schedule. If this is over and next week we start to play the league, I am not sure that we will be ready to play. The league will start and they won’t wait for us to put our house in order.”
“Hopefully the players will iron out their grievances with the team management and they will be back as soon as yesterday. Time is not on our side. We have lost lot of time.
“We need to prepare, failing to prepare I think is preparing to fail. Pre-season is six to eight weeks and we need to make good use of that time. Most of the players that we had in camp are not training with the team now. Our pre-season has been disturbed so much and it’s a big concern for us.
Bosso leadership is believed to have agreed terms with yet to be named sponsors but funds are yet to be released as there are some loose ends to be tied.
