Artistes team up for cancer awareness

HARARE - Male artistes have teamed up for a cancer awareness and fundraising concert dubbed the Gentlemen’s Game (#PinkConcert).

The Pink Concert will be held today and will have performances from Prayer Soul, John Cole, Trevor Dongo, Que Montana and Trust Jeldous.

Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in the country with the cancer registry recording over 7 000 cases a year.

“The Pink Concert is a cancer awareness and fundraising concert aimed at raising funds for over 30 cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and raising funds to refurbish Tariro Hostel, a home for out-of-town cancer patients.

“The hospital is situated at Harare Central Hospital and accommodates 40 cancer patients. The hostel is currently closed due to financial constraints,” a press release on the event reads.

“The colour pink identifies with the breast cancer brand and express moral support for women and men with breast cancer, survivors and in remembrance to those who succumbed to the disease.

Music and art remains one of the most effective vehicles to disseminate cancer information and raise awareness of cancer in our society.

“The objective of this concert is to help raise awareness about cancer among our people and to raise funds for cancer patients. We are therefore looking for donations in cash or kind to make this event a success.”
