Cornway College: Emerging giant

HARARE - Cornway College is fast emerging as breeding hub for some of the country’s finest athletes in various sporting disciplines.

Over the years, Churchill Boys High and Prince Edward School have jointly produced a number of household athletes who include the likes of Hamilton Masakadza, Tatenda Taibu, Mark Vermeulen, Samson Choruwa, Eddie Mashiri and Tino Kadewere among others.

However, despite the challenges faced by many private colleges in developing sport at grassroot level, Cornway College have arguably stood above all by producing a good number of sportspersons in recent years, who are now eking out a living through sport. In its 11 years of existence, Cornway College has managed to brew athletes who have grown into household names.

Some of the notable sporting persons to emerge from this college include Valentine Kadonzvo, Admire Dzumbunu, Panashe Nyabunga, Eddie Chidavaenzi Charles  Nyamasve, Douglas Choto Collins Peters, and Kundai Chawasemerwa.

Cornway College head Prince Masvikeni said he is impressed by the talent being discovered at their College.

“In an endeavour to create a whole child, Cornway College has excelled in sporting activities and our students have been absorbed by different club across the world,” Masvikeni told the Daily News.
