Mangwiro tears into DeMbare players

HARARE - Triangle coach Taurai Mangwiro yesterday took a swipe at Dynamos following his side’s a 2-1 win over teh Harare side that saw them book a place in the Chibuku Super Cup final.

The usually reserved Mangwiro appeared to mock the side he once represented in his playing days saying they “do not possess talent” to compete at the highest level.

In his blunt post match interview, Mangwiro said few players in the current Dynamos team would make the grade in his Triangle squad.

“This is the message we have for Dynamos, it’s a reality check. People should not fool themselves into believing that suddenly they are a good team. The games that they have won they have been winning in Harare against Harare opposition and today we were in there on the field of play and I knew we were technically better than them,” Mangwiro said.

“We proved it to a very large extent. The reality on the ground is that this is a team driven more by the fans and not the talent that they possess on the field of play. That’s the truth of the matter. It’s not an insult to my colleagues; we have seen the good work that they have done.

“But if I look at the players that Dynamos have and I want to incorporate them into my team at Triangle maybe one or two will make it in my starting XI.

“Sorry, perhaps some emotions end up getting the better of me. I don’t mean to insult the institution called Dynamos, this is where we were born and bred and today even we work at Triangle we still have the blue blood in us but what we are seeing right now sometimes is circus.”

On the ugly scenes that overwhelmed the match, Mangwiro said: “In the end we had to suck in a lot of pressure after they had scored just before half time. It is the disturbances that perhaps did not give a good picture for our football.

“At some stage I felt it was no longer safe for my players to continue after what we saw happening. I did not even see the goal they scored because I was busy protesting that Lameck was having missiles thrown at him when he got injured and that’s the time they scored.

“It was there for everyone to see; sometimes we end up endangering the lives of many because of the failure to accept results.”
