New dates for Book Fair

HARARE – The Zimbabwe International Book Fair Association (ZIBFA) has rescheduled dates for this year’s indaba and exhibition to October 22 to 27.

Last month, ZIBFA indefinitely postponed the 2018 Book Fair Indaba and Exhibition over health considerations after the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) declared a state of emergency in the capital and banned all public gatherings in an attempt to contain the spread of cholera.

Police also appealed to members of the public to take heed of the ban and cooperate so as to alleviate the continuous spread of cholera.

Following the state of emergency declaration and the subsequent ban on all public gatherings, a number of events, including the RSVP concert that was set to feature South African rapper Cassper Nyovest and DJ prince Kaybee as main acts, was cancelled. The show has since been rescheduled for November 10, at the Glamis Arena in Harare.

ZIBFA interim board chairperson Jasper Maenzanise confirmed the new dates for the main Book Fair yesterday, which will be held at the Harare Gardens.

“On behalf of the Zimbabwe International Book Fair Association (ZIBFA) General Council and Executive Board, we wish to advise that the 2018 edition of the ZIBF Indaba and Exhibition that had been postponed due to health considerations has now been rescheduled to take place from October 22 to 27, 2018,” said Maenzanise.
