GMAZ hands over 30t of food stuffs to cholera victims

HARARE - The Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) yesterday donated 30 tonnes of assorted food stuffs to people affected by cholera.

The donation consisted 10 tonnes of mealie-meal, five tonnes of rice and 5 000 loaves of bread.

The food stuffs were collected from Blue Ribbon, National Foods, Manyame Milling, Nulenty and Alpha Grain.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Local Government minister July Moyo, who is also the chairperson of the Cabinet committee on preparedness and disaster management, said the donation will go a long way in assisting those affected by cholera.

Speaking at the same event, GMAZ chief executive officer Tafadzwa Musarara said as processors of staple foods and key operatives in the attainment of national food security, they remain ready in supporting government initiatives.

“We will remain responsive to any future calls from government that aim to safeguard lives and initiatives by fighting famine and diseases,” he said.
