Vendors driven out of Gweru CBD

GWERU - The city fathers in Gweru have moved vendors outside the city’s central business district (CBD) in a bid to contain the outbreak of typhoid.

Gweru is still battling the outbreak, which surfaced three weeks ago and has killed 10 people.

Last week, there were running battles between the vendors and council employees as the latter tried to clean up the CBD.

Council officials are adamant that there is no going back on the matter as they want Gweru’s CBD to return to its prior clean state.

The vendors are, however, convinced that the city was being unfair in accusing them of spreading typhoid in the city.
