Mt Pleasant Clinic reopens after renovations

HARARE - Mt Pleasant Clinic reopened yesterday after undergoing renovations.

Located in ward 17, the facility is poised to offer enhanced services that include a wellness clinic, prostate and cervical cancer screening and many other services.

The overhaul will make a major impact on the lives of the community, especially for individuals who require low-cost treatment.

Harare mayor Bernard Manyenyeni, who also serves as the ward councillor, said the idea to renovate the clinic came after the community noticed the dilapidated state of the healthcare facility.

“Mount Pleasant Clinic had deteriorated significantly as the centre had major leaks, the ceiling was falling off and the floors literally had potholes which began to pose a danger to both staff and patients.

“Some of the money used in the renovations came from the 25 percent ward retention fund while some of the materials were donated by the community,” he said.

The mayor said going beyond the renovations, there was a hope to expand the services provided at the clinic.

“In future, we want the clinic to offer enhanced services that include a wellness clinic, prostate and cervical cancer screening.

“This is in line with the ever-increasing trend of new conditions like prostate cancer, cervical cancer and non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes which could be tackled by the wellness and cancer screening clinics,” he said.
