'Skolopad to come to Zim'

HARARE - Controversial South African socialite Nonhlanhla “Skolopad” Qwabe, who regularly attracts media attention because of her racy outfits, has agreed to come to Zimbabwe “as soon as possible,” the organiser of the mooted tour has claimed.

Devine Assignments director Biggie Chinoperekwei told the Daily News yesterday that his organisation was currently discussing possible dates with the South African socialite who took her homeland by storm last year thanks to her outrageous fashion sense.

“She has agreed in principle to come to Zimbabwe. At the moment we have a memorandum of understanding and we will enter into a binding contract once we agree on a date,” Chinoperekwei told the Daily News.

The Devine Assignments director added that the forthcoming Skolopad tour will be one of few shows involving foreigners that his organisation will hold this year.

“We will not do as many foreign acts this year because of a lack of foreign currency…our bankers also won’t facilitate foreign payments using funds in our accounts. Unfortunately fans will only pay for shows in local bond notes or swipe and for that reason it has therefore become very unattractive to bring foreign acts,” he said.

Chinoperekwei is determined to bring Skolopad to Zimbabwe to ease the heartache caused by equally controversial South African socialite Zodwa Wabantu who failed to turn up for shows in Zimbabwe on three separate occasions even though she had been paid.

Interestingly, the two South African socialites are “sworn rivals.”

The bad blood between the two is so bad that Zodwa Wabantu refused to be photographed with Skolopad at the Feather Awards nomination party in September last year.

Yesterday, Chinoperekwei was evasive when he was asked if his organisation was bringing Skolopad to Zimbabwe in a bid to spite Zodwa Wabantu.

But in Skolopad, Devine Assignments has found a fitting replacement for Zodwa Wabantu.

Since she announced her arrival on the South African entertainment scene in February last year at the Metro FM red carpet where she hogged the limelight with a very revealing yellow dress, the 32-year-old Skolopad has shocked South Africans with a series of outrageous exploits.

In early December, she shocked  when she posted to social media pictures of herself meditating completely naked. She posted several pictures of herself in the garden with no clothes on.

A week later, the attention-seeking socialite shocked South Africans yet again after she tweeted that she dreamt of being “slut” when she grew up.

After some criticism, Skolopad later claimed that it was not what she meant to write.

“Eish, I don’t even know what that word means. I wanted to type slay. As in, when I grow up, I want to be a slay queen. Like, why would I write that? I know I’m crazy but no guys (but) I really wanted to write slay then my phone just decided to write slut,” Skolopad claimed then.
