Eight-year-old releases gospel video

HARARE – Eight-year-old Kutenda Gabs has released a video for the track Vakafa Vose Vachamuka off his debut album titled Merciful God launched in October this year.

Kutenda’s mother, Evelyn Maforo, is confident that the video will popularise the North Park Primary School Grade 3 pupil which was produced by Munya Vialy.

“Kutenda’s album has been well-received. The positive responses have come from all manner of fans who include people from various denominations as well as young children in general.

The social media, local radio stations and the national television station have also been very supportive

“We are confident that this video done by Sub Videos will make his music even more popular. If all goes well we will release a video for the track Merciful God before the end of December,” said Maforo.

Other tracks on Kutenda’s six-track album are Makanaka Mambo Jesu, Amazing Grace, Ndinoshamiswa Kwazvo, Ndaiona Hama and Amazing Grace (instrumental).

According to Maforo, the young gospel artiste started singing when he was aged just four.

“We discovered his singing talent after he joined the praise team at United Methodist Church Southerton. He is also a member of the Zimpraise Kids,” Maforo told the Daily News.

She added that Kutenda’s talent has attracted the attention of gospel stars who include Mathias Mhere and Reverend Toggy Chivaviro.

“His role model is Rev Chivaviro. When Reverend Chivaviro launched his album early this year Kutenda was given the chance to perform. His other role model is Mathias Mhere,” said Maforo.

The gospel music prodigy’s mother added that Kutenda did not inherit his singing ability from his family.

“All I can say is that he was born a singer. He didn’t take it from anyone I know because we have no singers in our family,” she said.
