Tekno's gig cancelled

HARARE - Nigerian star Tekno’s maiden concert in Zimbabwe which was scheduled for Alexandra Sports Club in Harare tonight has been cancelled yet again.

In a statement last night, Triplife Entertainment, the organisers of the gig, confirmed the cancellation of the highly-anticipated show.

“Please note that Tekno and his team were looking forward to this highly anticipated gig and are equally disappointed by this undesirable outcome. His management and other stakeholders are still looking forward to making the trip to Harare though it is impossible at this time. Any inconvenience is sincerely regretted,” read part of the statement.

This is the second time this week that the gig has been called off. Early this week a spokesperson for Triplife Entertainment, the organisers of the gig, cancelled the gig citing an electrical mishap.

But a few days later they reinstated the concert after “We heeded the concerns of the fans who implored us to fix the concerns.”

Sulu, Macheso for Mr Ugly

Music stars Alick Macheso and Suluman Chimbetu will perform at Mr Ugly semi-finals to be hosted by Ruwa-based Mtangaz Hide Out on Sunday.

The same venue will host Mr Ugly finals next Sunday where Jah Prayzah and Killer T will be the main entertainers. Mison Sere is the reigning Mr Ugly.

Before the Mtangaz Hide Out gig, Sulu will be in Mberengwa on Saturday for a gig at Donhodzo Night Club.

Takura, Gary Tight for Big Turn Up

Award-winning Zim Hip-Hop star Takura and rising artiste Gary Tight will headline the Big Turn Up Gig on tomorrow at Newlands Country Club.

The two rising musicians will share the stage with Jam Signal, Shabach the Band and Zinarayah.

As is the norm, the event created for the “young at heart” will feature several top DJs who include Raydizz, Eve, Phatchild, Langton B and The Family 263.

Chengeto Brown to headline Mutare Braai Festival

Songstress Chengeto Brown, who collaborated with her sister Ammara on the hit Wachu Want, will be the star attraction at the Mutare Braai Festival on tomorrow at the Motoring Club.

The ever rising star, daughter of the late music legends Andy Brown and Chiwoniso Maraire, will share the stage with Flot, Diamond Kid, Young Ice, Tsangamidzi and Lioness.

Final Playlist event tonight

Comedian Tinaye, spoken word artist Arcane, musicians Kito and Vito as well as DJ Revy D will feature in the season finale of the of The Playlist event set for Tamasha Dining and Lounge Bar in Avondale, Harare tonight.

According to poet Black Pearl, who is hosting tonight’s show in collaboration with Musiqlef, The Playlist is an event which takes place at least once a month at different venues to promote local artists.

“It is a new show created to promote local artists through intimate sessions providing a balance of music, poetry and comedy,” Black Pearl told the Daily News.

Mannex dates On the Roof

Reggae artiste Mannex will perform at On the Roof in Harare tonight.

Gary Tight, Baba Harare for Dandaro Inn

Rising star Gary Tight, who recently collaborated with music superstar Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi on the track Ndizarurirei, will kick-start his jam-packed weekend tonight at Dandaro Inn in the Harare Showgrounds.

Tomorrow, the same venue will host Baba Harare.

Interestingly, the same artiste will launch his second album titled Minamato YaRasta at Dandaro Inn on November 30.Nigerian star
