Ex-Sulu guitarist launches album

HARARE - Liethens Musoni, a former guitarist for dendera star Suluman Chimbetu and Sam Dondo, will launch his fourth album at City Sports Bar in Harare tonight.

On the seven-track album titled Ndofa Neshungu, Musoni collaborated with Suluman on the track — Moto. He also featured Aaron, son of music legend Zexie Manatsa, on the title track.

Other songs on the album are Chigutsikana, Vasikana featuring Sam Dondo, Nganganga and Anokomborera.

In a bid to add diversity to his sound, Musoni worked with several producers who include Tayt Vialy, Munya Vialy and Manatsa Music Studios.

Musoni and his Oliens Hoody band will be supported by Suluman, Eria Tembo, King Omale and Papa Tongo.

He is delighted to have managed to feature Suluman on his album.

“I regard Sulu as a brother. When I used to play in his band, fans used to confuse me with him owing to our facial resemblance,” he told the Daily News.

This is not the first time Musoni has performed at City Sports Bar. He has regularly featured in the Monday Jam Sessions where he got to share the stage with the likes of Andy Muridzo, Romeo Gasa ,Tendai Dembo and Tendai Chimombe.

Some of the songs on the album to be launched tonight were previously sampled at the Monday Jam Sessions.
