Mugabe's plan to own airline slammed

HARARE - Tendai Biti’s opposition People’s Democratic Party has said President Robert Mugabe’s intention to be the first State president in the world to own an airline showed unbridled ambition and shocking greed.

The airline, dubbed Zimbabwe Airways, was said to be purchasing condemned planes from Malaysia Airways.

Mugabes’ son-in-law, Simba Chikore, the current chief operating officer at Air Zimbabwe, was said to have been instrumental in setting the new airline up and is tipped to become its chief executive officer.

A report published in last week’s Financial Gazette indicates that Mugabe went and negotiated the deal on behalf of the Zimbabwean government.

“That a deal can be negotiated on behalf of the State and then turned into a family entity is criminal, Zimbabweans must be angry.

“The source of funds being used to purchase the jets must be disclosed, if the Mugabes are buying the planes using their own money, then an investigation must be opened on their source of funds,” PDP spokesperson Jacob Mafume said.

“The law of the land does not allow a president to use his official position for personal gain.”

To late for that story. Mugabe has been using public funds for most of his family ill gotten wealth. This is nothing new. As Mugabe knows the people of Zimbabwe are asleep for the past 37 years on really have no urgency for change. Or at least to stop listening to the stories of a self proclaimed literationist that never fought a day in life for the independence of Zimbabwe. Others died for his position at current. And Mugabe has no love for the people of Zimbabwe. Why would he. He is no even Zimbabwean himself. But Malawian. Mugabe fortune and greed are obvious to the conscious. And the struggling Zimbabweans not even a second thought to the old devil. Only when election time comes around. The looting by this fake family and under the table deals with his European and Chinese backers have set Zimbabwe backwards in terms of development. And airline would be his families retirement present for his worthless brood. All I can say, is the sins of the father, shall be set forth on the children.
