Wimbo's fourth wife dies

HARARE - The death of mysterious prophet Madzibaba Wimbo’s fourth wife, has sparked security concerns among a rival church group that his sons could use the funeral to snatch away their father who is at the centre of a serious brawl pitting his family against a section of senior church leaders.

Wimbo — the head of the Mount Darwin-based Johane Masowe Vadzidzi Vajesu Church — is famed for having allegedly foretold 60 years ago that Zimbabwe would be led by a man with the name of an angel, Gabriel, with the prophecy allegedly coming to pass when President Robert Mugabe, whose middle name is Gabriel, rose to power in April 1980.

There is a nasty battle to succeed the seer with one group keeping him away from the family compound where his family has alleged it is against his will because of factional problems devouring Zanu PF.

Wimbo’s fourth wife, Lenca, died on Saturday.

According to Shepherd Chingwena, the spokesperson of the 94-year-old prophet, she suffered a stroke on Saturday and was rushed to Mt Darwin Hospital where she died.

“It is with much sadness that I have to announce that our mother Lenca, the wife of MIGS (Wimbo) has died.

“We know that our rivals might try to disturb the funeral so we are appealing to everyone who is part of our security to leave whatever they are doing and come to the funeral,” Chingwena said.

The late wife is the only one who had access to Wimbo, who has been separated from the rest of the family since 2015.

In July last year, Mugabe was forced to intervene in the dispute, including holding a lengthy meeting in Bindura with Wimbo’s family and his security chiefs, in a desperate bid to get to the bottom of, and to resolve the long-running “abduction” saga of the popular prophet.

Mugabe subsequently set up a ministerial committee headed by State Security minister Kembo Mohadi, to try and break the impasse over Wimbo, and to investigate the claims of thuggery by the soldiers at the shrine.

The ministerial team also included the ministers of Defence and Home Affairs, Sydney Sekeramayi and Ignatius Chombo, respectively.

He is famed for having prophesied that Zimbabwe will be led by one angel called Gabriel.."What a nonsense guys. Remember these guys are from Mt Darwin and close to Mozambique where there was the heaviest battle. There was no prophecy at all. This alien called Robert Gabriel Mugabe was known already as the one leading the activism against the white rule when he came from Ghana..with Sally. This issue of Wimbo doing this and that is total blasphemous and he is not a prophet rather a n'anga using juju....To hell with his fake prophecy guys......Rather is a church leader using juju hence commotion in his church. I really wonder why some of the so called leaders in the Robbers and Muggers camp usually consult him ....huroyi at its best. Voersteerk mani

Stupid, is there any proof that Wimbo did prophesy that the country would be led by this despot.People must desist from this nonsense of glorifying this man and trying to hoodwink the public into believing that Mugabe's despotic rule should not be challenged because it was delivered by God to plunge the country into darkness that has brought misery to the people.

He's a super prophet who can cure people, etc yet he can't cure his wife. Snake oil salesmen.

Some news is informative and some is educative. In this instance, the responses fomr readers show they know which is which here No need to dwell on the issue. In passing though, pose a question...what if he did indeed prophesy the next ruler of Zimbabwe? So what? Are they expecting him to now also prophesy the one to follow Gabriel? If so, what difference does it make in keeping him under lock and key? What difference does it make if one faction takes him from the other or vice versa? The way a prophecy works (and I'm not giving any credence to his prophesying prowess here, lol) is that the man would say the same thing regardless of which faction he is being held by. Unless they want to influence him to name their preferred person as the next ruler. In which case, the prophesying powers become obsolete or rather the man is not prophesying but rather anointing. Mugabe was not anointed, pple voted. As a last retort to this, a reminder... do you remember one Rhotina Mavhunga, who also had a ministerial delegation sent to her shrine to herald the ancestor's gift of pure, refined diesel oozing from rocks? I rest my case..

Wimbo is a true man of God whether you like it or not.He is defferent from your prophets like Makandigaya who are reaping from the the poor and crushing the needy .Go to the National Achieves of Zimbabwe then u can have the truth

The ''Diesel'' n'anga drama all over again. A very educated President with very educated Cabinet ministers being mesmerised by a n'anga. And again repeating the folly of forming a Committee of Ministers over this joke. I think its a lie that Zim has the highest literate persons in Africa. If it's true... then Africa in a real big trouble.
