Green Machine out for revenge

HARARE - CAPS United chief executive Cuthbert Chitima says they will have vengeance on the back of their minds when they play Dynamos this afternoon at Rufaro Stadium.

Chitima said wounds of their 0-2 defeat in the reverse fixture at the National Sports Stadium last month courtesy of a Christian Ntouba double are still fresh and they remain desperate to put things right this time around.

“It’s mouth-watering, really,” said Chitima to the Daily News on Sunday.

“We haven’t forgotten yet about that defeat last month. We were very disappointed, because we lost in front of our fans against our city opponents. And now we have a chance to play against them, and I am sure it will be different.

“We can show again what we want to do. This is our chance for revenge and we are really looking forward to it. We want to win this one at all costs.”

Today’s derby was somehow overshadowed by controversy surrounding Ntouba’s red card he received in last weekend’s league match against Highlanders at the same venue.

The Cameroonian striker dominated the headlines the entire week after the Dynamos leadership wrote to Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) to have the red card nullified.

The Zifa Referees’ Committee chaired by the association’s president Philip Chiyangwa rescinded the sending off to trigger a widespread outrage from football followers.

But the Premier Soccer League (PSL) voiced their concern on how the whole thing was handled blaming Dynamos for taking the wrong route by appealing directly to Zifa instead of taking the proper channel of going through the league’s secretariat while insisting the striker remains ineligible for today’s blockbuster tie.
