Dzvukamanja blow for Ngezi

HARARE - Ngezi Platinum Stars’ Castle Lager Premiership title hopes suffered a huge blow after their leading striker Terrence Dzvukamanja dislocated his shoulder during the defeat to Shabanie Mine at the weekend.

Tonderai Ndiraya’s side lost valuable ground in the title race when they went down 1-0 to the Chinda Boys at Maglas Stadium on Sunday.

However, the injury to Dvukamanja which will rule him out for a considerable time will surely be a major concern for Ndiraya as the league is fast approaching the business end.

Dzvukamanja has been Madamburo’s major source of goals this season after scoring nine goals in the league.

The forward will miss tomorrow’s home game at Baobab Stadium against Harare City according to Madamburo analyst and media officer Culvin Mavunga.

“Terrence is going to be out for some considerable time due to his injured shoulder. He is definitely out of Friday’s game against Harare City,” Mavunga told the Daily News.

“We are yet to get a full medical report which will tell us the full extent of the injury and the period he will not be available. But normally with this kind of injury it takes up to four or six weeks to recover.”

With Dzvukamanja sidelined for a considerable time, Madamburo will have to rely on the likes of Clive Augusto, Kelvin Bulaji and Washington Pakamisa to provide the goals.

Following the defeat to Shabanie Mine, Ngezi Platinum dropped to fourth place on the log with 46 points from 24 matches.

They now trail log leaders Chicken Inn by five points with 10 games to go before the season comes to an end.

Ndiraya’s charges will need to beat City tomorrow afternoon to put pressure on Chicken Inn and second-placed Dynamos, who are in action later on.

Meanwhile, FC Platinum, who are in third place with 48 points and are on a three-game winning run, take on How Mine at Mandava Stadium on Saturday.

The Gamecocks, who have won their last four matches, take on struggling Harare side Yadah FC on Saturday at Hartsfield grounds.
