Star-studded cast for Zimpraise anniversary

HARARE - A star-studded cast of gospel artistes is set to perform at Zimpraise Choir’s 10th anniversary pencilled for the National Sports Stadium in the capital.

The event is expected to be graced by influential American pastor, author and filmmaker TD Jakes as the main speaker alongside local preachers in the form of Tudor Bismark, John Francis and Aspher Madziyire.

Artistes to perform include Michael Mahendere, Takesure Zamar, Mathias Mhere, former Joyous Celebration artistes Ntokozo, Nqubeko and Zaza among others.

Vickie Mlilo, the head of public relations for the celebrations, confirmed Bishop TD Jakes’ team came on Wednesday last week for a run through of the venue.

“Preparations for the celebrations are at an advanced stage.

“Last week, we hosted TD Jakes’ team who had come to inspect the venue and indeed, they were satisfied,” Mlilo said.

TD Jakes is coming to Zimbabwe for the first time.

The Zimpraise 10th anniversary celebrations are running from September 7 to 9 at the giant stadium and tickets are ranging from $10 to $50.

“There will be free praise and worship workshops on September 5 and 6 at the Harare International Conference Centre,” Mlilo said.

Zimpraise Choir is a contemporary gospel musical group based in Harare that has dominated scenes in the arts and music arena.

The interdenominational praise and worship group was founded by Joseph Madziyire in 2006 initially under the tutelage of producer Macdonald “Macdee” Chidavaenzi, Garikai Ndanga and Madziyire.

The group, popular with hit Sungano, has toured several countries including the United Kingdom, United States of America and Canada among others over the years.
