Zim A loses to SA emerging side

HARARE - Zimbabwe A cricket team lost to South Africa Emerging side by six wickets with 114 balls remaining in the first match of three one day game series at Harare Sports Club yesterday.

Opening batsman Chamu Chibhabha (55) and Timycen Maruma’s (58) half centuries went in vain after the host’s captain Peter Moor lost the toss and was put in to bat first.

The locals being bundled out for a paltry 216 runs inside 47.5 overs.

Brian Chari fell five runs shy of his half century after he was run out on 45 runs at the top of the order.

The visitors made light work of Zim A’s total getting to 217 for the loss of four wickets in 31 overs powered by opener Janneman Malan’s whirlwind 79-ball 108 which flattened the hosts.

Zim A pace bowler Neville Madziva picked two wickets for 52 runs from seven overs, fellow pace bowler Chibhabha and spinner Brendan Mavuta claimed a wicket apiece.

The second match is scheduled for tomorrow with the third and final game pencilled for Sunday at the same venue.
