PSL title race shapes up

HARARE - The Castle Lager Premiership action reached the half way mark at the weekend and an intriguing battle is shaping up at the top of the table where seven sides are separated by only five points.

Leaders Black Rhinos bounced back to the summit of the table with a 3-0 drubbing of relegation-threatened Tsholotsho at Morris Depot on Sunday.

The army side is now tied on 31 points with Ngezi Platinum Stars but have a superior goal difference.

Ngezi blew an opportunity to maintain their dominance at the top following a 1-0 away defeat to Triangle at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday.

The biggest movers in the first round have been Harare giants Dynamos, who have turned around their season following an underwhelming start.

DeMbare now sit in third place with 30 points from 15 games as they still have a game in hand against struggling champions CAPS United.

In addition to that, the Glamour Boys are also likely to be awarded three points from their abandoned match against Chapungu at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.

Chicken Inn are in fourth place just two points off the summit form 16 games while FC Platinum have also made their presence felt in fifth place.

Norman Mapeza’s side have amassed 29 points from 16 games and have every reason to believe that this might be the season they land their maiden title.

How Mine are in sixth place with 28 points from 15 games and will have a strong say in the destiny of the title this season.
