Green ambassador to release new album

HARARE - Rising musician Dereck Mpofu, better known as the Green ambassador, will release his fourth album titled Godobori on February 17.

Mpofu, who featured songstresses Cynthia Mare and Pah Chihera as well as Zimdancehall star Shinsoman on the project, has lined up an 11-track album which contains several love songs.

The love tracks include Godobori which Mpofu says is a song for the ladies and Dzoka Kumba, a track about a fighting couple seeking reconciliation, which featured Mare.

Other love tracks are Ndinokakama which is about a guy who struggles to declare his love to a woman because of stammering, Ngirozi — a track about a very beautiful woman as well as Dzefunde, featuring Pah Chihera, which is a song on love gone sour.

The forthcoming bumper album also covers a variety of themes on tracks like Mweya wechiZimba which praises the perseverance of Zimbabweans in the face of huge challenges and Chikwambo which attacks people who believe in goblins.

Higher, which speaks about God’s ability to help people overcome tough situations, is another potential hit on the album. Mpofu collaborated with Shinsoman on this track.

Though a sad one which is about the challenges of life, the track Unorema is another potentially great song.

In addition to the soon-to-be-released Godobori, Mpofu’s other albums are Handizirini (2010), Dr Philosophy (2013) and Diplomatic Alliances (2015).
