Mokoomba headlines Unity Day eve gig

HARARE - Sensational Mokoomba will share the stage with Bryan K, Ammara Brown and Alexio Kawara tomorrow at 7 Arts Theatre in Harare in a concert organisers described as “an early Christmas gift”.

The Unity Day eve gig is part of a series of live sessions organised by Walter Wanyanya’s Ngoma Nehosho.

“Thursday is a public holiday so on Wednesday night we can party. Four good live acts to get Christmas started,” Wanyanya told the Daily News.

The Ngoma Nehosho director added that the gig would be a perfect opportunity for Zimbabweans based in the Diaspora who are back home for the festive season to see top-class local acts performing.

“Bring your visiting family members and friends and show them some of the very best in Zimbabwean entertainment,” he said.

The rising music promoter is happy to have managed to bring on one stage four of Zimbabwe’s best entertainers.

“It is not always possible to bring on one stage artistes of this calibre. We are more than delighted because the artists are ready to unleash an explosive night of entertainment at its best,” said Wanyanya.

Globe-trotting Mokoomba, who recently returned to Zimbabwe after criss-crossing several continents, will no doubt be the headline act of the night. The masters of Tonga rhythms are expected to sample new tracks off their forthcoming album to be released by Germany-based Outhere Records.

The 7 Arts Theatre gig will also be a perfect stage for Bryan K to showcase his immense talent. The Chinhoyi-born Heavy Machine singer is currently gaining traction in Zimbabwe and beyond thanks to Pamusika, a duet he did with top South Africa-based Zimbabwean music producer, Mr Kamera. The two recently completed a new track which could be presented during the New Year’s eve gig.

There is a great possibility that many music fans will go to the Arts Theatre gig enticed by Ammara’s famous all-action stage display.

The daughter of the legendary music star Andy Brown has suddenly become Zimbabwe’s top female star on the concert circuit.

Alexio, who recently released a track titled Hatidzokere off his forthcoming album Oyi, is expected to set alight the night with several unreleased tracks. Alexio, backed by his Shades of Black, has transformed himself into a star performer ever since he ditched urban grooves in favour of Afro-fusion.
