Soul Jah Love perfoms from wheelchair

HARARE - Things are not looking well for Zimdancehall musician Soul Jah Love as he performed while in a wheelchair on Friday at the Zark launch.

The musician who had just been released from hospital spent the entire set in a wheel chair which made many people sympathise with him.

His manager, Wadis Bimha said the performance was to dispel death rumours.

“He wanted his fans to see that he was alive, dismissing the death rumours,” he said.

Last week, after news broke that he had been hospitalised, social media was awash with his death rumours.

Simmad who was the show’s facilitator said Soul Jah Love insisted on performing.

“He was called and asked if he could perform given that he had just been released from hospital. The organisers wanted to see if they could adjust the programme if he was not going to make it.

“He was not threatened with anything but he just felt that he needed to honour the agreement. If he had failed to turn up it would not have been an issue as we all knew he was in hospital,” he said.

Some people are saying he had no choice but to perform as he has hospital bills to cover.

“He spent a whole month in hospital and his money comes from shows. He needs the money to pay hospital bills and earn a living.

“His manager actually called the organisers and insisted on performing and indicated that he would perform in a wheelchair,” said a source close to him.

Soul Jah Love was hospitalised as the wounds he had sustained from a road accident were failing to heal owing to his diabetic condition.

In the past, he has missed several shows because of this condition which he seems not to be able to control.
