Female artistes to offer career guidance

HARARE - Female artistes, who include songbirds Tariro NeGitare, Varaidzo Nyakunika and Danai “DJ Naida” Goredema as well as actress Dalma Chiwereva, will offer career guidance to students at Reps Theatre tomorrow.

The four will be panellists for the “Let’s Chat with Women in Entertainment” initiative being spearheaded by TBS Consultancy formed in July this year by sisters Tatenda and Belita Garise.

“Our focus is on career guidance to students, from Form Three to university level. So far, we have managed to do one event and the

‘Let’s Chat with Women in Entertainment’ taking place tomorrow at Reps upstairs theatre starting at 1000hours to 1230hours is our second one,” TBS Consultancy administrator Belita Garise told the Daily News.

Garise added that they came up with tomorrow’s meeting with the aim of providing career guidance to students keen on pursuing careers in entertainment.

“We are targeting students keen on careers in music, acting and media studies. Other interested individuals are also welcome,” she said.

Garise is confident that they have put in place a panel which will appeal to students.

“Tariro neGitare is very relevant because she first ventured into music as a 13-year-old St. John’s High School student. She has shared the stage with top local stars and recently collaborated with a German reggae band called Jamaran.

“We are also delighted to have DJ Naida, holder of a financial planning degree who quit a top banking job to become a DJ,” said Garise.

The rest of tomorrow’s panel is made up of prolific actress and dancer Chiwereva and upcoming musician Nyakunika, 23, a holder of an International Relations degree, who is currently studying law at Rhodes University in South Africa.
