Fungisai, Janet top Permican Awards nominations

HARARE - Female gospel artistes Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave and Janet Manyowa, who are both sitting on five nominations, have emerged as early favourites in this year’s Prophets Emmanuel & Ruth Makandiwa Invitational Concert Awards Night (Permican) gongs.

The two songbirds are in the running for the Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Female Artiste, Best Collaboration and Most Viewed Song Video gongs.

Fungisai has been nominated mostly on the strength of her hit Vanondibatirana while Janet was largely nominated because of her hot song Kune Muponesi.

The top-placed male artistes are Kudzi Nyakudya and Mathias Mhere who have both been nominated thrice in the awards set for the City Sports Centre on December 9.

In last year’s edition of the awards, Michael Mahendere took home two awards-Best Male Artiste of the Year and Best Album of the Year for his Getting Personal With God Album – 2.
