Ndiraya warns CAPS United

HARARE - Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Tonderai Ndiraya says his team will not be in a charitable mood when they face Castle Lager Premiership title-chasing CAPS United this weekend.

The platinum miners are in seventh heaven following their Chibuku Super Cup final victory over FC Platinum two weeks ago.

On Sunday, they travel to the National Sports Stadium fully aware they face a daunting task against a Makepekepe side that is yet to lose a league game at home this season.

“It’s going to be difficult one, especially considering that we are playing away from home.

“CAPS United haven’t lost a game at home this season,” Ndiraya told the Daily News.

“That record will always give them confidence that they will do well.”

Ndiraya is grateful for the international break last weekend as it gave his side enough time to wind down their celebrations after the Chibuku Super Cup triumph.

“It was going to be difficult if we had played last weekend,” the former Dynamos coach said.

“With the international break, we gave the players more days off so that they can continue with their celebrations.

“When the players returned to training this week, everyone was focussed on the remaining games and I hope we will go and compete because of the better focus.”

Ngezi go into Sunday’s game comfortably in mid-table and safe from relegation but that does not mean they have already switched off according to Ndiraya.

“When I started with the team, our main focus was to survive relegation and we have achieved that,” he said.

“We have now shifted our targets; we are now aiming for a top eight finish.

“Our management has motivated the players to aim for this target. We are not going to do any favours for anyone in our remaining two matches as we want to collect maximum points.”
