I'm ready to work with Tsvangirai: Welshman

BULAWAYO - The Welshman Ncube-led MDC has said it is ready to work with Morgan Tsvangirai and any other party “opposed to President Robert Mugabe’s policies”.

While the party’s spokesperson, Kurauone Chihwayi, refused to be drawn into the on-going opposition parties’ grand coalition debate, he said his party was “prepared to work with like-minded forces”.

“We are ready to work with Tsvangirai’s MDC in an arrangement that will liberate Zimbabwe. There is a difference between working with Tsvangirai’s party and joining him. Ncube is ready to work with Tsvangirai,” he said.

“The MDC is prepared to work with any political party opposed to Robert Mugabe’s policies and leadership style and the MDC-T (Tsvangirai-led MDC) is not an exception,” Chihwayi said.

Asked about the idea to audit political parties prior to the establishment of the grand coalition — as recently suggested by Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa — Chihwayi seemed to have reservations.

“While it is a good idea to know each other, it is not wise to start throwing some small or funny parties out of the dining room now,” he said.

“A genuine and serious arrangement will certainly flush and expose bogus characters masquerading as political principals. We cannot talk about coalition leadership or composition now. What is clear is that the Coalition of Democrats is growing daily and a number of political parties are coming on board,” he said.

Last week, Mliswa called for an audit of all opposition parties to gauge numbers before entering into a grand coalition.

But above all, Mliswa called for Ncube, PDP leader Tendai Biti, RDZ president Elton Mangoma to “come back home” and re-join Tsvangirai.

However, Biti has since made it clear that he will never go back to his former party unless on a collation arrangement.

Chihwayi suggested that it was wise for all opposition political parties to start working on a bigger political project that will free Zimbabwe from decades of Zanu PF hegemony.

Ever since an acrimonious split of the MDC in 2005, relations between Tsvangirai and Ncube remained prickly with both politicians exchanging barbs.

Ncube has in the past accused Tsvangirai of being dictatorial while on the other hand, Tsvangirai has labelled Ncube a “village politician”.

if you want to work with morgan then go to the nearest mdc office and get an mdc-t membership card. we may make you a councillor or mp. I think you are quite of the fact that the position that you used to hold was held by another useless lawyer like for 8 years. now it is in the hands of a competent lawyer doug.

@Tahir and Josphat -were you there during the liberation struggle ? If you were there you wouldn't be so minors in your deductions , during the liberation struggle all political parties and forces joined their hands together and fought against their common enemy and their common enemy was Ian Smith . Today all oppostion political parties have got one common enemy and that is Mugabe and his ZANU PF , therefore it is of paramount importance that political parties must join their hands and work hard to win 2018 elections , yes they have got their own disputes , but let them resolve all their disputes after ending Mugabe's regime government .

'Join MDC-T' - join them where? Are they running any government?

Pathetic Zimbabwean opposition politicians - the only thing uniting them is a common enemy - Mugabe. When they eventually overcome that hurdle what is next? Another scramble for positions / leadership roles and more factions! What are they really offering us - what is their vision for transforming our nation?

@Daniel5 and Viola , what strategies are you talking about , the bottom line is that we need to remove this stubbling block ZANU PF and Mugabe from power, stubbling block to reviving our economy , stubbling block to investors , stubbling block to the creation of new jobs etc . This country have got intellectuals, innovative and creative individuals ready to present their document policy and as a way forward after we bury Mugabe and his ZANU PF in 2018 elections , wisely, opposition parties cannot present their document policies now knowing very well that such policies would be stolen by the failing ZANU PF government . Opposition parties especially MDC T have got advisers local and international with effective strategies to rebuild Zimbabwe , but very unfortunately such policies are the tools for the future of Zimbabwe and are considered as classified information for security reasons , why do you expect opposition parties to expose their document policies to wolfves like ZANU PF ?? , we never exposed much of our policies to Ian Smith during the liberation struggle , ours was to kick him out and gain our independence of which we did , thats it , the goal of the opposition parties and millions of people of Zimbabwe is to see Mugabe off the seat ,thereafter strategies relining the future of Zimbabwe will be presented in an amicable way at the right juncture . Viola and you Daniel , don't be so amiss!!!!!!
