Zoc holds sports admin course

HARARE - The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (Zoc) is scheduled to host a sports administration course which is set to run over two days beginning tomorrow at Petra High School in Bulawayo.

“This course is offered by the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Solidarity Commission and is the last of eight similar activities held to date during the Olympic cycle 2013-2016,” Zoc said in a statement.

“The objective...is to offer to National Olympic Committees (Nocs) the possibility of training the sport administrators of their Noc and its constituents by organising courses on a national level.”

The introductory course covers areas such as Olympic Movement, sport administration, athlete development and team management.

“The two-day course will include lectures and presentations from the experts as well as interactive sessions,” Zoc said.

“Participants will be receiving a Sports Administration Manual, published and supplied by Olympic Solidarity, and an Olympic Solidarity certificate upon 100 percent attendance of the course.

“The 350-page manual provides base information for Sports Administrators, covering critical themes linked to the Olympic Movement and to the management of sport organisations.

“In general, the courses target the volunteers and paid staff of NOCs, National Federations (NFs) and other bodies responsible for the development of sport in the country.

“This course has attracted school sports directors, officials and administrators from provincial and national sport bodies based in the Southern Region.”
