Baobab to host Chibuku final

HARARE - The 2016 Chibuku Super Cup final between Ngezi Platinum Stars and FC Platinum will be hosted at the Baobab Stadium on November 5, the Premier Soccer League has announced.

There was an outcry last weekend over the way the league scheduled the semi-finals of the competition.

Harare City were designated the home team for their clash against FC Platinum but the game was hosted at Mandava Stadium.

FC Platinum went on to win the match 3-0 to dump the defending champions out of the tournament.

In the other semi-final, Ngezi Platinum were designated as the home side but the match was staged at Barbourfields Stadium.

Ngezi defied all odds by defeating high-flying Bulawayo giants Highlanders after winning the last four clash 1-0 courtesy of Liberty Chakoroma’s penalty.

Tonderai Ndiray’s side have reached the final of the country’s richest knockout competition in their debut season in the top flight.

Ndiraya is already looking forward to the final and playing in front of their home fans; Ngezi will fancy their chances of finishing the season with some silverware.

“It’s going to be an epic one and a very tight contest,” Ndiraya told the Daily News earlier this week.

“They are playing well and are in the title race. But we will do everything that we can in the final. One thing for sure is that it will not be easy for FC Platinum. We will definitely give them a good run for their money.”
