OGs name unchanged side

HARARE - Old Georgians coach Grant Mitchell has named an unchanged side for today’s Saru Gold Cup match against unbeaten Pool C leaders Siyaya Brakpan at the Bosman Stadium this afternoon.

Mitchell decided to go with the same starting XV which emerged 38-22 victorious last weekend at home against Durban Collegians.

In the front row, Wade Petzer is at loose head prop, David Makanda at tight head while Keith Murray is the hook.

Kyle de Beer and Moses Gunda will provide the power in the second row.

The loose trio is made up of Fortune Chipendu (6), Jacques Leitao (7) and Kingsley Lang (8).

Mitchell has also gone for the same halfback pairing of Graham Kaulback at scrumhalf and Lenience Tambwera at flyhalf.

In midfield, Boyd Rouse is a first centre while Shingi Katsvere is the second centre.

OGs three-quarter backs will be Stephan Hunduza (11), Jonathan McWade (15) and Brandon Boshi (14).

Mitchell believes today’s match will be a tough test for his side as they face a high-flying Brakpan side that has already sealed their passage to the quarter-finals.

“The next match is going to be a tough one we got to travel down South to play the Valke Peregrine champions which is Brakpan,” Mitchell said after the win over Durban Collegians.

“At this stage they are unbeaten and on top of the log in Pool C so we just gonna prepare as we normally do, we gonna fix any areas we were found wanting. We gonna improve on our strengths and keep everything on the focus.

“We had lessons learnt in a small detail. As a quality side that likes to achieve you, gotta pay attention to the small detail and that’s all we fixed this past week and I credit the guys for sticking to their guns for 80 minutes, it was a lovely contest.”

Meanwhile, Brakpan Rugby Club’s CEO Harry Nieuwenhuis has urged the Panne fans to come out in their large numbers at Bosman today.

“The serious part of the competition will start now,” Nieuwenhuis told the Brakpan Herald yesterday.

“First, we will have to play Old Georgians, from Zimbabwe, this weekend, and we want to invite as many people in Brakpan as we can to come down and watch the game at 3pm.

“We are playing earlier than usual to ensure that everyone can still watch the Springboks versus New Zealand game.

“Things are heating up and our team is still unbeaten. We want to get as much support in to Bosman Stadium this weekend as we can and we ask everyone to wear green clothing and to join us for some great club rugby.”

Old Georgians starting XV: 15. Jonathan McWade, 14. Brandon Boshi, 13. Shingi Katsvere, 12. Boyd Rouse, 11. Stephan Hunduza, 10 Lenience Tambwera, 9. Graham Kaulback, 8. Kingsley Lang, 7. Jacques Leitao, 6. Fortune Chipendu, 5. Moses Gunda, 4. Kyle de Beer, 3. David Makanda, 2. Keith Murray, 1. Wade Petzer.
