Blow for CAPS United

HARARE - CAPS United resume their Castle Lager Premiership title push at the weekend without defender Stephen Makatuka, who is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards.

Makatuka, one of the most consistent players in Makepekepe’s fine run this year, was booked in their matches against FC Platinum, Triangle and How Mine to rule him out of their trip to Beitbridge for a clash with Border Strikers on Sunday.

The Green Machine currently sit second on the log table with 50 points, trailing log leaders FC Platinum by a single point with only five matches left before the season ends.

Lloyd Chitembwe has enough arsenal to cover for Makatuka as he can call either Justice Jangano or Calton Munzabwa to partner Dennis Dauda in the United defence.

The Green Machine will be hoping to capitalise on any slip-up by FC Platinum who clash with Moses Chunga’s Harare City at Rufaro on Saturday.

Log leaders FC Platinum will be without midfield enforcer Winston Mhango when they travel to the capital.

Platinum would want to maintain their Chibuku Super Cup momentum which saw them progress to the semi-finals after edging Triangle 0-1 at Gibbo.

The Zvishavane-based side are fancying their chances of a league and cup double and know their fate lies in their own hands.

Norman Mapeza’s men only need to win their remaining five league matches to lift their maiden title while they are two wins away from lifting their second Chibuku Super Cup in three years.
