Tich Mataz to grace Ladies' Night

HARARE - Veteran broadcaster Tich Mataz, who was recently hailed by leading South African radio presenter DJ Sbu as “the trendsetter,” will make a rare appearance at the City Sports Bar tonight where he will grace the Ladies’ Night show.

Tich Mataz is expected to feature at the Ladies’ Night gig alongside rising Afro-fusion star Victor Kunonga.

City Sports Bar manager Mathias Bangure told the Daily News that the decision to invite Tich Mataz for the weekly event was a no-brainer.

“Tich has a huge following among ladies. That is why we decided to invite him to grace this week’s edition of Ladies Night together with Kunonga and Lady Vicious,” Bangure said.

Tich Mataz first ventured into broadcasting in 1988 at State-owned Radio Three which has since rebranded to Power FM. The-47-year-old disc jockey-cum-businessman then joined the great trek to South Africa where he worked for 5FM before returning to Harare after he was deported by authorities there.

DJ Sbu is convinced that Tich Mataz could have been a wealthy man if he had not been deported by South African authorities.

“With the great Tich Mataz, he was way ahead of his time. If he was never deported from South Africa 10 years ago, I have no doubt this man would be one of our South Africa’s billionaires... in his twenties, Tich Mataz was a trendsetter... he had a very popular TV show on SABC...,” DJ Sbu said on Instagram.
