Shoko Festival returns to Chitungwiza

HARARE - The Shoko Festival 2016 “Peace In the Hood” Concert will take place on September 25 at Chitungwiza Unit L Community Hall Grounds.

Despite the concert being “a free entry one,” organisers have put in place a riveting programme that includes hip-hop and Zimdancehall artistes, DJs on turntables as well as various dance battles.

The main stars of the show will be Zimdancehall artiste Dobba Don, who will be expected to perform his hit songs which include Mudendere and Cheu as well as Zim hip-hop man-of-the-moment, Ti Gonzi who is behind hits like Zvenyu and Makawoma.

Norwegian outfit, African Sunz will be the sole international act at the event that will also feature Bernadette M, MC Cho Cho, Mutare-based female chanter MK Hombakadzi (formerly known as MK47) who has bounced back thanks to the fired-up performance she delivered at the same event last year, DJ Traveler and Jibilika dancers.

The Peace in the Hood gig has provided a rare opportunity for budding artistes to share the stage with prominent stars at a vibrant gig held in the townships.

Some of the artistes that have performed in the previous editions include Dadza D, Symbiz (Germany), Black Twang (United Kingdom), Junior Brown, Guspy Warrior, Hope Masike, Ba Shupi and many more.

Shoko Festival, which is a product of Magamba Network, is being sponsored this year by the Embassy of Sweden and Norwegian People’s Aid.
