Beware, Mujuru warns Mugabe

HARARE - Former Vice President Joice Mujuru yesterday overcame attempts to block her from holding her maiden rally in Bindura and warned President Robert Mugabe that he could be consumed by people’s power if he continues to use repression as a tool against protestors.

Thousands of Zimbabwe People First (ZPF), the party which Mujuru now leads following her sacking from government and Zanu PF by Mugabe, defied intimidation to come out in huge numbers to attend her maiden rally in the province which used to be her stomping ground.

Mujuru’s rally was held on the backdrop of a police ban on demonstrations in Harare after a wave of protests unnerved the ruling party.

“I was in government for 36 years hapana chozivikanwa. (he knows nothing) Zanu PF is against development.

“I tried to introduce developmental projects but they resisted that.

“Mugabe, people are now tired they do not want to be suppressed anymore,” warned Mujuru to loud cheers.

“The Bindura Town Council tried to block our rally, saying it would be violent but they failed to do so.

“I was waiting for this day in Mashonaland Central where there are well known thugs.

“But I don’t want you to kill people for me to be the president. We showed them that our party is strong.

“Ndiri mwana wenyu handina kurasa hunhu ndichiko aiva manyepo amaiudzwa (I have not gone rogue, all that you heard were lies),” added  Mujuru, who was sacked by Mugabe in the run-up to the Zanu PF December, 2014  congress on untested allegations of plotting to topple him.

Turning to war veterans, Mujuru, herself a respected ex-combatant, said Zanu PF no longer respects the people who fought for the country’s independence.

“We want to respect war veterans and not behave like a person who is never tired of travelling, a person who would like to have his passport stamped in every country,” said Mujuru.

War veterans, for a longtime one of Mugabe’s pillars, have severed ties with the nonagenarian after serving him with divorce papers during an explosive meeting held in Harare in July.

Noone should or has the right to kill or cause damage to anyone's property on the basis of their political affiliation. As citizens let us becareful not to be used by political parties to turn against each other.

icho - 5 September 2016

Its a free world. Every one is free to build a home where he/she is accepted. Masaiwa and the rest stay in the diaspora wani. This is their choice. Plenty Zimbabweans are now permanent residents of different countries. The President and his family as citizens are free to choose where to build their home or to build houses. Singapore, China, SA, Mbare, Kwa Bhora, etc. This indeed is a none issue. Mari yako chete.

icho - 5 September 2016

joice it is the case of pot calling a kettle black. why did last so longer is your values were not congruent to those in zanu? weren't you using the same thugs before you were kicked out?

josphat mugadzaweta - 5 September 2016

@Icho.And why Singerpore. All world presidents, kings n prime ministers try to portray their coumtries as inhabitable by living in permanently in their countries, eve holidaying ,like US Camp David ,set for their presidents, whr does this leave pres mugabe in view of his patriotism language. He also gets medical treatment in that country.Even his kids go home (Singerpore) for treatments. If Masiiwa has a foreign home does that give our president the right to go foreign also.

viola gwena - 5 September 2016

Tell me, icho, whose money is RGM & family using? Theirs or ours (I'm assuming you're a taxpayer like me). The people in the diaspora are using and earning their money there, your president isn't. It's shameful and that's why he's now disrespected. The idiotic peanut gallery are those who applaud such irresponsibility.

Sagitarr - 5 September 2016

There is no known society which has ever prospered while worshiping another society. The worship of the white man will forever condemn Africans to slavery and exploitation. The current economic hardships are God's way of making Africans realise who the creator is. Zimbabweans need to know that most of our problems are because African leaders are victims of worshiping white men.

Mujuru was never a devil like mugabe. She has never approved of any of mugabe's evils. I love her

Zimbabwean politics is one big comedy. Joice is not even ashamed to say "I was in government for 36 years - hapana chavanoziva"! In as much as you point at Mugabe and his failed government Joice four fingers are pointing back to yourself! Do not lie and try to hoodwink Zimbabweans that you had projects they were blocking api? The whole country cannot raise chickens - Zanu allowed you to promote those. But you tried everything you could to stop Strive Masiyiwa's telecoms license to be issued! The sad story about Zimbabwe is we have been abused by Mugabe for so long anyone who claims he/she is a leader we follow. But they cannot even articulate how we are going to bring healing and restoration to our nation and economy. FIX THE ECONOMY AND MOST OF OUR POLITICAL CHALLENGES WILL FADE AWAY. To appeal to hungry, suffering, unemployed people with rhetoric about a better future after Mugabe with no clear vision is lying. Joice Mujuru for 36 years was among Zanu Pf's architects of national destruction, terror, zanu pf gravy train looting. By the way how many mines, farms and businesses she acquired during her time in zanu pf has she forfeited back to the state / nation of Zimbabwe. "To change with change is a changeless state". Joice you did not list a single finger to challenge Mugabe and try to stop the rot in the governance of our nation! Usatinyepere. Hatidi unity yauri kunyepera Tsvangirai (who was bold enough to challenge Mugabe and has the scars to prove it). Musanyeperwe!

Indeed our beloved Zim will never run out of politicians and sometimes comedians for that matter. Our country has no strategic thinkers, visionaries who sleep and dream about prosperity of our people. I watched Mai Mujuru rally on You Tube other day and even my wife, who differs with me markedly on strategic versus tactical thinking; whispered to me saying "Amai Mujuru still wants to go back to ZANU PF and that is what her campaign is all about". I had said it to her be4 but she couldnt take it. Immediately, i became angry with my colleagues in the movement for being too quick to embrace the 'chameleons' into opposition fold. What type of curse, hypnotization or baffonery is this. 36 years in a system and a person still behaves the way she does; oh No! Mujuru is simply supposed to apologise for having been part of the evil king and speak to posterity and not postulate about past. I STILL LOVE YOU & HER TOO!
