Bofoz unveils finalists

HARARE - Black Opal Face of Zimbabwe (Bofoz) has unveiled 11 finalists who will battle it out for the title on September 17 at the grand finale set for Glamis Arena in Harare.

The finalists are Nicola Carr, Zoe Mpofu, Samkeliso Ndlovu, Marcia Chigogo, Tabeth Nyahasha, Hazvineyi Chihota, Robin Chivanga, Angela Mafuku, Gugulethu Nyathi, Mazvita Chakawa and Gina Mutemeri.

BOFOZ spokesperson Tanaka Ngorora told the Daily News preparations for the event have begun.

“The 11 finalists who qualified over six preliminary rounds recently underwent a gruelling boot camp in Ruwa. The two-day camp focused firstly on physical exercises and team work and included a five kilometer run as well as obstacle courses and team building exercises.

“The second day of the course focused on Black Opal product knowledge as well model training conducted by Judith Williams from Model Management and Delroy from Mudziyashe,” he said.

The Bofoz spokesperson explained how the winner will be selected.

“An SMS voting campaign for the finalists, which will run until September 13th, four days before the finale, was launched over the weekend. The final winner’s score will be an aggregate of 50% SMS votes and 50% Judge’s score at the grand finale. The list of judges is currently being finalised. One lucky SMS voter will win a Toyota IST,” he said.

For this year’s Grand Finale, organizers of Bofoz have partnered with Chipaz Promotions who have secured the services of Jamaican star Romain Virgo for the massive event slated for 7pm, Saturday September 17th at the Glamis Arena.

“An SMS voting campaign for the finalists, which will run until September 13th, four days before the finale was launched over the weekend. The final winner’s score will be an aggregate of 50% SMS votes and 50% Judge’s score at the grand finale. The list of judges is being finalized. One lucky SMS voter will win a Toyota IST to be drawn at the Glamis Arena, by a lottery developed by IT partners Afrosoft,” he said.

In a bid to make the grand finale bigger and better, Bofoz organisers roped in Chipaz Promotions who have secured the services of Jamaican music star Romain Virgo. The lovers rock singer will share the stage with local artistes who include Soul Jah Love, Freeman, Jah Prayzah, Dobba Don, Judgement Yard, Gary B, Templeman and Probeatz.
