MDC targets Mugabe ouster in 'few weeks'

HARARE - The Morgan Tsvangirai-led MDC has vowed to force President Robert Mugabe to resign through a national “grand” demonstration which it says will be rolled out within a “few” weeks.

The planned national demonstration comes at a time the nonagenarian is feeling the heat from the ordinary Zimbabweans whose anger has swollen in the last three months as a result of the deepening economic rot.

The MDC has been holding peaceful protests in major cities as part of its plan unveiled at its fourth congress in 2014.

In an interview with the Daily News yesterday, MDC spokesperson Obert Gutu said they were upholding their youths’ resolution who gave Mugabe an August 31 ultimatum to leave office.

“The MDC youth assembly is the vanguard of our party. The youths are the engine and pistons of the MDC-led revolution in Zimbabwe,” Gutu said.

“The Zanu PF regime is curving in, it is collapsing. We are pretty confident that the Zanu PF regime will be abdicating from power within the next few weeks. The regime is clueless, ruptured to the very core and totally bankrupt.”

As part of galvanising its supporters for what it said would be a mammoth national demonstration, the MDC has been holding protests in major cities since May. So far, it has held well-attended street protests in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare and Masvingo.

This weekend they will be toyi-toying in Gweru.

“These demonstrations will culminate in a massive grandmaster demonstration that will be held in the capital city at a date to be announced. Momentum is gathering and the people of Zimbabwe, including non-MDC supporters, are actually urging us on,” said Gutu.

Gutu added that the Gweru mass action would target Zanu PF’s continuing misrule, the party’s failure to fulfil its 2013 election promises to create 2, 2 million new jobs, as well as agitate for answers following Mugabe’s claim that $15 billion had been stolen from the Chiadzwa diamond mining fields among other things.

“Zimbabwe is for all of us and we are all affected by the insipid corruption that pervades all aspects of the Zanu PF regime.

“Our children are demanding jobs and particularly for the Midlands city of Gweru, major companies such as Bata Shoe Company and Zimbabwe Alloys are tottering on the verge of collapse,” Gutu said.

“Of course, Zimbabweans are looking up to us to lead them to Canaan. We have the necessary political gravitas and intellectual firepower to organise and lead peaceful demonstrations that will ultimately lead to the fall of the Zanu PF dictatorship.”

“The Zanu PF regime, as we have stated on times without number, is now living on borrowed time. The regime’s fascist plan to clamp down on the use of social media will crumble like a deck of cards.

“Social media is here to stay and no amount of regime paranoia can successfully stop the social media revolution.

“We are living in the digital age and the Zanu PF regime, if it so desires, is free to remain trapped in a primitive and backward outpost of Stalinist myopia,” he added.

Mugabe, 92, is facing the biggest challenge to his 36-year unflappable rule which many critics say has destroyed the once-thriving economy.

The Zimbabwean leader is accused of turning the economy he inherited from the Rhodesian regime in 1980 into a basket case through corruption and ruinous policies.

However, Mugabe blames targeted sanctions for destroying the economy although pro-democracy and opposition groups maintain he has authored Zimbabwe’s problems as a result of bad governance.

ZANU and Mugabe were formed formed for terrorism purposes not for governing and the proof is it still has terrorist tendencies and practicing terrorism by continuously burning opposition pple homes ,forming some terror groups like gukurahundi ,chipangano greenbombers G40 la coste exactly like aikaida which has developed into many terrorist splinters like the latest ISIS . especially to those who do not boot lick it and therefore that is why ZANU was busy doing madisinyongoro in govt for 36 years and using mangoromera to win elections by burning homes of those who try to use their democratic rights to remove Mugabe by ballot .But now that everybody including war vets Mujuru. churches and reserves pple have seen the light and know that Mugabe is the only problem in our lets all make sure he steps down and also his zanu is forced to fold for good bcoz they is no reason to let it exist

Diibulaanyika - 11 August 2016

Warvets want change in zanu,a progresive change. The change that has seen countries like Tanzania ,South Africa become better economies n democracies. We fought for zanu bfo independence, and after .Change is all we want,in zanu. Its best yu all noin us in this and become part of us.We offer the best solution to this crisis. We have in zanla n zipra good men capable of doing better that Mugufulis n Mbekis.Trained cadrs. All we want is change.Yu have given yo opposition leaders time.Yu gave them yo votes ,lives bt they are still to deliver. They are now fighting.Give us half of that support n see what we can deliver in short tyme, for a better future.Look up to us,warvets.nust for a moment.

The worst thing in this country will be to have anyone with war hangover which he or she derived while on the run with a gun in his hands from the super RF . All sane pple know that war vets know nothing about running the country later alone they are slow thinkers very easy to trick hence they had been crushing those who wanted to bring change all in the name pleasing Mugabe and on top of that all govt companies which were run by war vets have since died and if they can not run a parastal then for get about the nation .If the civilian leader had not joined the govt in 2009 this country by now would be a heap of rubbish therefore a civilian who is not going to talk about this nonsensical war each time he is asked to deliver by citizens would be ideal for us and we want him to run this country with our support without Mugabe disturbance

Diibulaanyika - 11 August 2016

@ Diibulaanyika, you are right the worst thing that could happen is being ruled by another war veteran. The many that pretend to be were actually refugees and those who make the loudest noise about their contributions have no record (Chinotimba et al). Zimbabwe to progress needs to be governed on merit regardless. The crop of war vets as represented by their Mutsvangwa/Sibanda/Hunzvi outfit have shown terrible judgement in propping an illegitimate and unfit to govern regime. Imagine if they get their person ED Lacoste it will be a total disaster, they have no sense of good judgement (they have been propping Bob since 1974) and now want ED who has blood in his hands.

Lt General - 11 August 2016

Gutu et al. Its commendable that you are at the coal face and wrestling with the monster/vampire party and its blood thirsty leadership however to suggest that it can be defeated by mere protest from the urban population is not a correct reading of the situation. Zanu don't care about protest and boycotts...they care about money in their pockets & living large, hit them there and you will see things happening.

Lt General - 11 August 2016

@Lt general spot on since 1974 they had been following Mugabe to no way and this time they must follow the leader of the nation elected by the majority the civilian ,We are tired of this thing of war some of us were there during that war and even fed guys like puppies and we know what was happening in that war most of these war vets pretenders never shot a single shot bcoz they were always on the run from Rhodesian forces .All what they knew best was sleeping with women jiving kanindo music and eating a lot of nyama from our live stocks killing publicly so called unarmed informers to instill fear into the civilians always asking civilians to buy cigars for them .Nothing special about these guys they can boastabout war but some of us who were there will never listen . But the good think is they have seen light after a loooong time and now they see Mugabe is bad.

This is parthetic reasoning laced wth partisan imaginations.

Familiarity has always been a problem. When an African is told that socio-economic and governance problems in Africa are all because of the black person's worship of a white man, there is strong denial. Research on this, today no black leader will ever be cruel to his/her subjects unless he/she worships a white person/foreigner. #Rhodes must go!!

ADF - 11 August 2016

I wonderd why viola is criticising Tsvangirai,,now I know. U are a warveteran,,let me tell u the truth,,nometter the people will support yr decision to leave ZANU they will not give u even one vote. The people of Zimbabwe are not stupid &they will not forget what u did few years ago,,killing innocent people just to keep Mugabe in power.Putting u in power is just like putting Mugabe back. The only problem u have with Mugabe is that he don't to leave so that u put Mnangagwa.U agree with him in all his policies. Just forget, that will never happen,,we need real change.& that change will come,God is in control

Matsotsi - 12 August 2016

In as much as it may appear bad or inhuman, the precedent move has been set, each household will bring children and father and mom out on this grand match to force Mugabe out. Each man and his family, if parents are imprisoned, the children need to be taken care of as well since we have families already orphaned by ZANU PF. better we die with our children, dogs and cats. Everyone on the demo.

amina - 12 August 2016

@Matsotsi.Yu maybe new on this forum.I have never seen anything sophisticated in Mr Tsvangirai, ever since.Im sure on this forum im known as such.Bt I respect him as my forma p.m. and one who represents a section of our citizens.Politics is about votes and effecting those votes into action.Yu are entitled to support whoever yu like,as an individual.Yu dont use "WE" when yu referering to yoself.Campaifn for yo candidate and if he wins encourage him or her to stay put and represent yo vote, not run.Same as me.I will campaign for my person. What we want is a reasonable man or woman to take over because the sun has set for President Mugabe at 94, in 2018.He represents the past not future.

viola gwena - 12 August 2016

ADF, you are just plain stupid. Are you saying that our socio -economic and governance problems bedeviling Zimbabwe are as a result of Mugabe worshiping and bootlicking the whitemen?A primary school student can do a better research job than this thin minded lunatic called ADF.Just look around and see if there is still any country who have leaders who came through the armed struggle.Zimbabwe needs a leader who is able to tackle present and future aspirations of the people, rather than dwelling on the past every time the country faces challenges.Matakadyakare haanyaradze mwana ADF.Zanu pf is just infested with power hungry and corrupt people and some are even cruel to and extend of biting off your head and spit it at a passing train.

If Morgan was not a sophisticated leader by then he would be history Where is FORUM PARTY what happened to ZUM NDONGA UP and many others all were wiped out by Mugabe and his CIO . This guy is brave. loves this country and very patriotic who never abandoned the struggle for change That is exactly the type of a leader that we need i repeat WE with the word we bcoz we are many who support Morgan more than those who freely support Mugabe . This guy is a colossal political figure in zim and with no doubt he deserve to be president of this country of which he will be come 2018 ..

Diibulaanyika - 12 August 2016

Thanks Diibulaanyika,,if we can get 90%of the people who think like u for sure we were going to remove the evil in power, not the people who behave like prostitute. We need the people who know how to judge a man by his works. All of us we want Mugabe to out like yesterday but let's not forget that this grandfather made sure that he stays on top nometter what.He put his relatives&friends in army top posts&police top posts just to make sure no one will remove him.Who is Tsvangirai????? Tsvangirai is just a man with no one in the army neither in police force. He went a lot for many years without anything in return. I still remember the time Tsvangirai refused to contest in Senate elections&that time Welshman tried to destroy the part by bringing ZANU blood money to buy the primary elections&they took everything, Tsvangirai was left with nothing. The only thing left with him was Strive Masiiwa's building &He said he will not abandon the people of Zimbabwe because of money. To tell u the truth guys until we face the truth we shall never win these thugs of ZANU.Today we support another &tomorrow another,, we are just giving Bob more blessings.Nometter what u can say we will never get a man like Tsvangirai not in this generation. All the small party being formed now are just oppotunists for their own benefits.Mark my words.

Matsotsi - 12 August 2016

Viola what's the best u war vets can bring. All u know is,we went to war like we can eat other war.As much as we respect yr contributions in war we also need good leadership. If we keep on talking of war does that give us solutions to solve the crisis we have now?U just likens father who reminds a child of the money he played for grade on fees yet the child needs money to finish the final stage in school.Dai takanga tiripoo nguva yamakaenda kuhondo taingoitawo zvamakaita so u need to leave the past&let's put our minds together &solve the problem we have.U new about war not leadership plus u just have to slow new blood to bring knew ideas.

Matsotsi - 12 August 2016

Its our heritage, our history.bt we dont shout about on hill tops.Shouting is mostly done by those who never were there,or held the gun.we are not the problem.we never ran the economy.we only supported .like yu in mdc,yu not responsible for the mdc break ups.yu only support. So the hatred yu have on us is misplaced.look at those running the show.

I Diibulaa was there during the war and will never listen to people i fed like puppies and will never take them serious either . These guys who talk too much about war were either in the bush camps in some foreign countries enjoying sex with some commanders or were in the front line where they also sexually abused women including married ones in 1977 for example in my village one of these then terrorist was gunned down by Rhodesian forces who found him in the middle of bonking a woman in the early hours of the day and he used the name Darlington his remains where shaved in a cave and to this day are still there . They is nothing special indeed about these people they are less intelligent that is why for f.........king 36 years they had been killing us civilians so that Mugabe can stay and do madisinyiongoro to our economy i person lost 28 heads of cattle when the Rhodesian security drove my animals right in the national parks to fix me bcoz i fed these pple so can say i never fought in the war but i do not need to talk about that every day t becomes boring and valueless

Rest in peace CDE Darlington.yu were thrown in there by sellouts ,not soldiers. The Rhodesian soldier wuld offer tinned beef to sellouts who wuld cut our dead comrdes into pieces n feed their dogs. The anger of this man is suspect. To this day he has kept this a secret,to himself.Because of his cattle.Anyway we saw worse sellouts .Majority of them ,tinned beef was their reward ,for killing a combatant ,hide his bordy to show Rhodesians.

viola gwena - 12 August 2016

Yu had so many cattle and yet yu killed a combatant for a tin of beef.Where is yo pride now.Yo masters were defeated and left yu behind in yo frustrations.Nomore tinnd beef.Dzakutsaku.yo anger is very pretentiouse. Its the freebies yu miss, for selling comrades.Yo children became fat from those tinned beefs, selling comrades.chimbwasungata.
