I will not revenge: Mujuru

CHINHOYI - Former Vice President Joice Mujuru says despite having been harassed by President Robert Mugabe and his hangers-on, she holds no hard feelings and will not revenge in the event that she wins the 2018 elections.

Addressing her Zimbabwe People First (ZPF) supporters in Mugabe’s home province of Mashonaland West yesterday, the former VP said the days she worked under Mugabe were like jail time, as she was not allowed to run her own projects.

Mujuru, who was expelled from Zanu PF in 2014 on charges of plotting to assassinate Mugabe, is gunning for the presidency and has so far held provincial rallies in Bulawayo, Harare and Marondera as well as Chinhoyi as she drums up support for her party.

“They think that we are going to revenge but no we have many things to do for the good of Zimbabwe.

“Let us show Mugabe that we have now lost respect for him. Vanhu ava vanenge vava kupenga nhasi vagara politburo vadzinga munhu mangwana vodzosa (these people seem to have gone mad, they expel a person today and bring him back tomorrow) while the country is burning.

“We are worried because some people are now being rewarded for attacking war vets.

“Ukashanda nababa vakaita seivavo ijere pacharo (If you work with that man it is like you are in prison),” she told hundreds of her supporters.

On Thursday last week, a former Zanu PF youth leader Godfrey Tsenangamu revealed that Mugabe was the author of the downfall of Mujuru as he personally coached them to attack her towards the party’s congress in 2014.

“God is now at work, Tsenengamu exposed what they did to expel us,” said Mujuru as she warmed up to the damascene moments of former Zanu PF hardliners.

Mujuru, a veteran of the liberation struggle, has also come under attack from a section of former freedom fighters who accused her of not having championed their cause while still in government.

Turning to war veterans in Zanu PF who were instrumental in causing her expulsion, Mujuru said it is now becoming crystal clear that Mugabe wants to get rid of all former freedom fighters.

“When I was still the VP, I wasn’t the patron of war veterans some say ndanga ndavarasa (I had abandoned them) they came with their problems to Mugabe but he was doing nothing.

“We didn’t know that he was targeting to expel all the war veterans like what he is currently doing,” said Mujuru.

Her rally in Chinhoyi took place after a High Court application cleared it after police had earlier refused to sanction the gathering.

Mai Mujuru vanhu vanokudai, may you continue your good work. We love and respect our real Generals: Tongogara & Mujuru. May the revolution continue until the evil regime is rooted out.

student teachers are crying, banks have no cash, graduates not working, ministers stealing, fighting within your party and you expect winning? Shame on you. people are tired and its a fact its only that you did not go to school. if you win in 2018, then there is every reason for us to die.

As much as I admire Amai Mujuru's stance, I think the next govt should set up a commission to investigate the wealth of our govt officials. Any ill-gotten wealth should be forfeited to the state. Ngumbono wami lami

this lady has absolutely nothing to offer. kushanda namugabe chii? wh y then did you last 35 years and how did you accumulate all that wealth if you were not allowed to run projects? shame on all those that listen to these lies from this hippo.

It would do well for Mbuya Mujuru to retire to her farm and play with her grand kids. These zanu pf cadres have reached their "use by date" and have nothing to offer Zimbabweans. They were the architects o our problems and never lifted a finger to challenge Mugabe and correct the gravy train as it derailed and continued in its carnage for 36 years. All this change of heart is just chameleonic and cunning attempts for life after Mugabe. Joice Mujuru have you come clean about the mines, farms etc that you grabbed and still have. Everyone will be held accountable. Do not lie about your phantom projects (to rear chickens -sic!). Zimbabweans will not be hoodwinked and short changed again.

Fellow Zimbabweans, employ a bit of strategic thinking and avoid celebrating short-term glamour. These goons of Mujuru, Mutsvangwa, Mnangagwa and Mugabe himself are pushing for the ouster of Mugabe, not because they nolonger want him. They want to take over since he is 'a moving grave' so that they will continue will economic plunder and bludgeoning of the masses. Their fear is not a Mugabe continuation but but entry of anyone who is not one of them. That is their fear because they have stolen all that Zim has ever had and therefore resent any kind of audit. Any one of them yearning for highest office must declare their wealth and its source. We can not afford accommodation of political entrepreneurs any longer. In public office you come and go! Think and think strategically my fellow Zimbabweans!
