Zoey to grace Club Archies

HARARE - Veteran pole dancer Zoey Sifelani and radio presenter Phathisani Sibanda will be the star attractions at the birthday bash of Club Archies’ manager Kudakwashe Mawonedzo set to take place at the Harare club tomorrow.

Mawonedzo, who is turning 33, is confident that the two will make her birthday party one to remember.

“I have invited Zoey to entertain our male patrons while female ones will be entertained by Phathisani,” she said.

Mawonedzo, one of the few female managers in local showbiz, joined Club Archies two years ago.

“To manage a bar as a lady is not a walk in the park. It needs patience and aggression. Some patrons will not take you seriously while others mistake you for a sex worker. As such, you should stand your ground in a way that won’t offend patrons,” Mawonedzo said.

Zoey confirmed her participation in the bash yesterday.

“Whenever I am on stage, I mean business. I am looking forward to the event. I brought pole dancing to Zimbabwe from South Africa in 2008.

“I then introduced it in the country and that is the time I recruited Beverly Sibanda among others and I am happy that my efforts have yielded fruits as the dance is now popular in Zimbabwe,” said Zoey.
