MDC youths give Mugabe ultimatum

HARARE - The MDC youth executive has given President Robert Mugabe an August 31 ultimatum to leave office, as the embattled leader faces escalating protests from ordinary Zimbabweans.

The party’s youth chairperson, Happymore Chidziva, told the press yesterday, following an executive meeting, that they had resolved to push out 92-year-old Mugabe through a campaign dubbed #MyZimbabwe.

“We have been left with no choice but to start a campaign whose mission is to liberate our Zimbabwe from a clueless and greedy clique that only thinks about itself and nothing else,” he said.

“This country will remain ungovernable as long as… Mugabe and Zanu PF do not heed the call,” Chidziva said, adding that “the effects of rigging the elections are now taking a toll on Zanu PF”.

“They surely rigged 2013 elections but they cannot rig the economy, neither can they rig our minds not to see their failure which is pasted all over the place.

“We reiterate our call for… Mugabe to leave office as he has become tired, clueless and old, and can only sleep in meetings instead of steering the ship forward.”

Chidziva said they were “convinced that nomatter what, . . . (Mugabe) cannot bring anything new and his place can only be in an old people’s home”.

“There is no investment that will come to this country as long as Mugabe remains in charge and for the benefit of many of us who still want to work, we want and demand that Mugabe goes.”

Chidziva said it was their mandate to push for a democratic society like what the war veterans did when they fought the Ian Smith regime.

Ignore the likes of B Moyo who have nothing but a cotton picking mind.MDC youths ngazviende mberi musanyeperwi ,everyone right thinking Zimbabwean is fully behind you and that the majority, but a word of advice,if you want people to stage a stay away,it has to be done continuously until we have achieved the desired result. We don't want a stayawa which has one day or two days.people must stay away peacefully in their homes until someone calls it quits.Even if it takes the whole week, which i believe it won't get that far.
