Mugabe trashes #ThisFlag campaign

HARARE - Electing to ignore the man-made economic crisis engulfing the country, President Robert Mugabe yesterday took a swipe at popular pastor Evan Mawarire who has been leading a citizen campaign against his rule describing him as not being “one of us.”

The nonagenarian who spoke with a cracking voice came short of labelling the brave local cleric a fake pastor.

"The Mawarires, I don’t even know him, and those who believe in that way of living, well, are not part of us in thinking, they are not part of us as we try to live together,” Mugabe told mourners who gathered at the burial of  his former secretary, Charles Utete, yesterday in Harare.

“If they don’t want to live with us they should go to those countries that are sponsoring them. We will say no forever, find another environment if you are a pastor, I don’t know if he’s a man of religion.

“A man of religion will speak the biblical truth. 1st Corinthians, what does it say? Love one another. So beware these men of God, not all of them are true preachers of the Bible. I don’t know whether they are serving God, well, we spell God (as) GOD, they spell in reverse (DOG).”

Mawarire has been leading the citizens’ charge against the 92-year-old Mugabe whose government is battling cash shortages resulting from a contracting economy.

Zimbabwe under Mugabe’s watch has slid into a much-derided basket case, to the extent of failing to feed its people and paying its civil service.

A meeting called yesterday to try and appease the restless civil servants failed to produce anything meaningful as government said it hoped to make an announcement on the pay dates on Friday

Mugabe told the mourners at the national shrine, who included thousands of civil servants that Mawarire was inciting violence although in all his campaign messages, the clergyman has been urging peaceful actions.

“I don’t know him (Mawarire). Those who believe in the way of violence to solve disputes, well they are not part of us,” said Mugabe.

“...You can’t incite people to adopt violence as a way of airing out your grievances. We will say no, forever no”.

Government has been angered by Mawarire’s popularity which has seen his stock rising among the ordinary people who see him as the new face of Zimbabwean struggle — occupying space that was once monopolised by opposition political parties.

But it has not been Mawarire alone voicing concern over the current state of affairs in the country.

Tajamuka/Sesjikile, a local pressure group, has added its voice to a growing chorus of Mugabe must go which was prompted by the severe cash shortages and the announcement that government is bringing bond notes.

On Monday, the group said Mugabe must not be part of 2018 elections because he had outlived his usefulness.

“We are not prepared to wait for 2018 because of the speed with which things are deteriorating and obviously the advanced age of ...Mugabe is a big factor in this,”Tajamuka/Sesjikile’s spokesperson, Promise Mkwananzi, told the Daily News on Monday.

“We are not convinced that he still has the ability to supervise the rigorous affairs of the state, more so in this crisis situation that we are having now.

“Secondly, his defiance shows that he has already crossed the red line and reached a point of no return.”

Mugabe why are you going to Singapore every two weeks?? Just pack all your bags and go for good. We now want the government of Singapore to ban you from going there. You idiot? Your 20 degrees are fake and meaningless, just like your wife's fake PhD

Is someone supposed to be known by the president so that one can air their concerns?Yes mr president,Pastor Mawarire is not one you,for the simply reason that he is one of us.He is one of us because we rub shoulders with him everyday going about our everyday horror of trying to eke out a decent living in this once beautiful country that has been ravaged by outright thieving and corruption while your hangers on are busy stripping the country of anything they can lay their hands on what is left of the economy. You definately live in a different Zimbabwe with the majority of us .China has dictatorship, but they don't tolerate corruption from those that are put in charge of running the country.Their economy growth is proof to that. Its unbelievable that since 1980 no minister or any public official has ever been jailed or at least fired for stealing or corruption, yet we have well documented evidence of graft ,theft, corruption committed by these guys.Officials have only been fired for merely having divergent views to that of the regime.Shame.And who in his or right senses would trust their children's future with someone who will be 94 in 2018?He wants to do what he has failed to do all those years when he still had the energy.i am sick and tired with the animal called Zanu pf.

Pastor Mawarrire is not one of you because he can not manage four meals a day, spend millions on bithdays while hospitals have no basic H&S tools and medincines. You should have been a comedian.

the western sponsored pastor must emulate esteemed men of the cloth like ezekiel gutu and the like who have concentrated om matters of faith and building communities,it is clear that the temptations of political office have distracted the pastor,to the pastor we say, stick to ministering, stop[ promoting hate and destruction of property, the god yu serve forgives and yu will be forgiven from having strayed from the path that men like yu are supposed to walk

Mugabe is very delusional. He thinks he is D.O.G himself and infallible. To lie blatantly that Pastor Mawarire is advocating violence, just shows how much disrespect the President has for the people of Zimbabwe. He owns us all, we are his property . The only thing he could not do is brand us with a gushungo tatoo! But I swear to D.O.G he would do if we let him.

People of Zimbabwe do not be discouraged. Remember we are being ruled by a President who eulogised Gonomics as the solution for Zimbabwe. We have a President who paid all the war veterans in one lump sum instead of using financial engineering SOLUTIONS to mitigate the economic impact. We have a President who announces a one man one farm policy which ends up as 7 farms per politician. I am disgusted. Nda jamuka and I am not being sponsored to write this TRUTH.

We Zimbabweans have spent the past 30 years, watching the tap drip, and each year it drips more. But we watch, hoping. And each year Zanu-pf promises to fix the tap - in fact in certain years they try to convince us the tap is not dripping. Zimbabwe is a great country with great people. I think we have finally realized the tap will not fix itself, and that for our own survival, we need to fix the tap.

Now I can see why that white guy posited that Africans have an IQ that is lower than 50 when the average is 100. This is a President. A whole President of a country that is supposed to be among other nations of the world. This is a man who, towards every election has to bribe the voters by offering mealie meal and beans. Now he is offering "stands" to the youth who have no jobs, no future to look to. The so called youth are ecstatic, the same way gardeners in Borrowdale and other suburbs country wide were allocated "stands" in Hatcliffe and elsewhere before 2002 elections, only to be evicted later after the vote. The low IQ population is believing these lies and betrayals without a wimp..

How does the old man marry Utete's funeral and Mawarire"s dignified call for freedom. Why is it that the old man is always of topic? No wonder why he reads speeches that have nothing to do with the day.Besides, Mawarire is a man of good standing. Sairai vanokodzera vataure pandufu.

Mr. president, i do not know how you can use God and Dog in the same sentence. If you are a christian, you should fear that name and not use it in vain, even if you are scolding someone

if i am a Zimbabwean as u are a Zimbabwean ,where on earth do u find the authenticity of telling me to live my mother land for a mere reason of airing my concerns?. surely one dont have to be a rocket scientist or to be sponsored by someone to notice that you are too incompetent and corrupt to lead our magnificent country. what we are saying is simple and clear- relive yourself from the presidency and admit to your crimes of gross violation of human rights or at list stop living in lies and provide our 2.2 million jobs.kana vapedza kudaro votisungirawo kusukuwere, chombo, mpofu to mention a few makororo vanhu ivava. these are the kind of sentiments being passed by everyone in Zimbabwe.
