Zaka Zaka resurfaces at Jam session

HARARE - Gifted guitarist and vocalist Zakaria Zakaria will make a rare appearance at tonight’s Monday Jam Session set for City Sports Bar.

Zaka Zaka, a former key member of Alick Macheso’s Orchestra Mberikwazvo, is part of an exciting line-up that also includes Mono Mukundu, Progress Chipfumo, Pauline Gundidza, Tedius Matsito, Talking Guitars, Jah Bless, Junior Spice, Garry Tight, King Tazvida and Brian Nhanhanga.

Zakaria has welcomed the Monday Jam Session invitation.

“I am more popular in areas outside Harare, that is in farms, mines and other marginalised areas where I frequently hold concerts. The City Sports Bar invitation is a good opportunity for me to promote my music,” said the young brother of veteran Sungura musician Nicholas Zakaria.

The gig tonight will also provide a platform for talented guitarist and vocalist Chipfumo to sample several songs off his forthcoming album.

“My forthcoming album will prove that I am still equal to the task,” said the Chiredzi-born artiste.

Chipfumo’s previous albums include Let Them Know, Ndinovatenda Nei, Tsiurika, Usatamba Nemoto and his debut album Progress Report have proved his mettle as one of Zimbabwe’s foremost songwriters.

Meanwhile, on Saturday night the City Sports Bar hosted a joint show by Zimdancehall star Killer T and feisty dancer Beverly Sibanda.

The concert, which was attended by an uncharacteristically big and mature crowd, was Killer T’s farewell show before a tour of the United Kingdom that will also feature Seh Calaz, Ammara Brown, Tytan, Nox and Judgement Yard.

The Ngoma Ndaimba singer, along with fellow Zimbabwean artistes will perform at the Summer Splash 2016 gig on July 22.

Due to the nature of the audience in attendance, the Mbare-based singer performed several songs that appealed to his older music fans.
