Herentals confident of catching Rhinos

HARARE - Northern Region Division One side Herentals FC coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva believes his side is still firmly in the promotion race despite trailing log leaders Black Rhinos by 10 points.

Herentals, who are in their second season in the country’s second tier league after acquiring the franchise of the now defunct Bindura United, currently sit on second place on the log table with 24 points while Rhinos are on 34.

Mutiwekuziva’s side take on another army side Commando this Sunday at the National Sports Stadium B Arena hoping to maintain the pressure on Chauya Chipembere.

“We can certainly improve a lot more there is no doubt about that. When we started the season, in the first matches things didn’t look well but we have since recovered well,” Mutiwekuziva told the Daily News yesterday.

“You would have to envisage that the cohesion and fluency will only get better come the second half of the season and I’m expecting to see our football improve. Hopefully that will show in the results.

“I strongly believe that we are still in the title race. We are not losing hope this is a marathon and there are a lot of matches to be played. Black Rhinos have got an advantage for now but they haven’t won it yet. We will fight to the end.”

On their match against Commando, Mutiwekuziva said they are expecting a tough encounter but remains hopeful of collecting maximum points.

“We are looking forward to the game with appositive mind,” Mutiwekuziva added.

“I am optimistic of maximum points so that we can keep pace with the log leaders. The guys are geared up and looking forward to the game. Of course it will be a difficult match but we are quite optimistic of maximum points.”
