Triangle edge Chapungu

CHIREDZI - Courage Denias scored a last gasp goal as Triangle edged Chapungu in an evenly contested and intense Castle Lager Premiership encounter here yesterday.

Denias volleyed past Roy Mazingi in goals for the Gweru-based side two minutes from time punishing the visitors' loss of concentration when the match looked like it was headed for a draw.

“We were relieved to score at the end of the game to secure all the points. It was a difficult game,” Triangle coach David Mandigora said.

With the hard fought win Mandigora said he hoped to continue grinding out positive results and remain part of a chasing pack as they approach mid-season.

The win took the Sugar Sugar Boys to sixth place on the log with 22 points, seven behind log leaders CAPS United.

“We will continue working hard to keep up with the teams at the top of the table," Mandigora said.

Chapungu gaffer John Nyikadzino was justified to feel hard done by the result after his side failed to utilise the chances they created.

"We lost concentration and they scored with two minutes to go. We lost a lot of chances but Triangle took theirs. They only got one and they maximised on that chance," Nyikadzino said.

The airmen are now forth from the bottom with 15 points from their 14 games.
