Enough is enough Mr President!

HARARE - Zimbabweans yesterday peacefully expressed their anger against President Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF administration by staying away from work despite groaning calls by the regime for people to report for duty.

What this shows is that Zimbabweans have had enough of this regime, which is bent on pillaging the economy at the expense of the majority of people who voted it into power.

Uniformed forces and other State apparatus may threaten and cow the people, but the message from all quarters of the economy is clear – enough is enough.

Long-suffering Zimbabweans are demanding an end to misrule and misgovernance.

Since the Zanu PF government won the 2013 general elections, under controversial circumstances, the economy, which showed signs of recovery during the inclusive government era, has failed to find traction and is on the verge of a recession.

Deflation has set in and many companies have closed across the country, pushing the unemployment rate skyrocketing to above 90 percent while the promised 2,2 million jobs have remained elusive.

More than 5,5 million people are in need of food aid at a time those who parcelled land among themselves when they chucked out white commercial farmers in the early 2000s are failing to deliver.

People are dying en masse at public hospitals due to lack of medicine and vaccines while the country’s once-famed education sector is on its knees with those tasked to preside over the sector sending their children to study abroad.

And it’s only fair for the voters to revoke the mandate they gave to those who are in power since they have failed to deliver their election promises.

Zimbabweans have had enough of these shenanigans and the writing is on the wall for Mugabe and his cronies to resign and hand over power to new blood.

We find it very appalling and shameful for leaders — especially those who claim to have people’s interest at heart — to continue clinging on to power through murder, corruption and threats when they have clearly failed on their mandate.

The Zanu PF regime has failed to run the economy and is solely responsible for the demise of both private and public companies.

Ziscosteel is no more and so is the National Railways of Zimbabwe, Grain Marketing Board, Cold Storage Company and Zimpost among others due to rampant corruption and maladministration perpetrated by the regime that has failed to construct a single kilometre of railway line since it came into power in 1980.

What else new can Zanu PF promise to the people?

Enough is enough Mr President!
