Chitembwe calm ahead of Hwange tie

HARARE - CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe whose side has been hit by absence and suspensions of key players ahead of the home game against Hwange, is not pressing the panic button.

United lock horns with the coalminers at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

The Green Machine will be without four players due to suspensions, injuries and trials by some of the key players for Sunday’s duel.

Defender Ronald Pfumbidzayi and midfielder Kudzi Nyamupfukudza will serve a one game suspension after accumulating three yellow cards.

Makepekepe will also be without the services of striker Leonard Tsipa who is injured while inform midfielder Abbas Amidu has been invited for a one-week trial stint with a Germany lower division club SSv Ulm 1846 Fussbal.

Addressing journalists at the team’s weekly press conference yesterday, Chitembwe insisted he has enough replacements.

“The absence of some of our players will affect the team slightly, not much. The players are very important to the team but I feel the club is more important than the individuals,” Chitembwe said.

Unbeaten in their last five games, Lloyd Chitembwe’s charges head into their match against Hwange hoping to maintain their chase in the title race where they occupy second place on the log table with 24 points from 11 matches.

“These guys are professional football players and they are fully aware of their targets. As coaches we always want to win each and every game and there is no difference with this game,” added Chitembwe.

“Of course we are in a difficult league and all teams that we have played so far have not made it easy for us. So the game against Hwange will be difficult as well. They did well against Chicken Inn and we need to be at our best if we are to collect maximum points.”

Today, Ngezi Platinum travel to Bulawayo for a date against How Mine at Luveve Stadium. Tonderai Ndiraya who got off his reign with a win last weekend will be hoping to maintain a perfect start.

Today: How Mine v Ngezi Platinum Stars (Luveve Stadium)
