Kunaka back in Zanu PF

HARARE - Former Zanu PF Harare province youths chairperson and leader of the Chipangano vigilante group Jim Kunaka has rejoined the governing party, apparently after having been frustrated by the slow pace of movement in the Zimbabwe People First (ZPF) led by Joice Mujuru.

Kunaka and Kudzai Saruwaka, who both had a fleeting romance with the ZPF, cited lack of progress and a dearth of internal democracy in the fledgling party as the reasons why they have decided to jump ship.

In a letter they co-authored, the two politicians claim that ZPF lacks direction and has lost its initial vision.

They also say the party does not respect its members by affording them the chance to practise a democratic process of electing its leadership from the grassroots level.

“Top leadership is in hibernation and had declined to practise professionalism as they opted to use the grapevine as their reliable source of information. Up to now, the party has failed to even produce membership cards, believing that time is on their side,” reads part of the letter.

Kunaka, told the Daily News that his agenda, when he left Zanu PF in 2014, was not to just form another opposition party without direction but to seek a better Zimbabwe.

He said the leadership at ZPF was sabotaging itself by refusing to listen to divergent views of people, particularly at the grassroots level.

“I want to be able to influence those in leadership with positive and developmental views and not to just oppose for no reason. I encountered so many barriers to tell the president of ZPF my views that it became frustrating to continue with a party that seems to not have foresight,” Kunaka said.

On the other hand, Saruwaka said rejoining Zanu PF is a personal option.

He said the message that he was pushing in Harare South on behalf of ZPF was going to waste as the leadership was failing to implement the ideas.

The former Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn  youth leader said opposition political parties in Zimbabwe were failing the people because they lacked a clear vision.

“Maybe if I take my ideas to Zanu PF something tangible will come out of it. At the end of the day, all we want is for people to live comfortably without suffering. At ZPF, we would say one thing and senior party leaders would later change. People want consistency,” Saruwaka said.

The two youth leaders claim that since they informed ZPF supporters in their respective Mbare and Harare South constituencies that they are leaving, many have also decided to follow suit and join Zanu PF.

All institutions have their problems and faithful subscribers and members of any political or social institutions do not abandon their families because of conflict. It is the same conflict that resulted in them being forcde out of ZANU PF. The reality is that these prodigal sons have been been lured back to the chaos faction inorder to give the impression that ZPF is just but a dead giant.

Clear ZANU way - Infiltration to try and stifle the party in its infancy, same with ZUM

Its amazing that ZPF had taken Kunaka on board. He has left them because they have nothing to offer him. In Zanu Pf as long as you do as they tell you to do in order for them to stay in power, you will be rewarded. Achimwene knows that.Thats why we have policemen and soldiers that beat the people whem they try to exercise their democratic rights. Its a sad reality but the truth is those who have no Zanu PF links will never have a better life in Zimbabwe.Kunaka has just proved it. Papers can write as much as they can about Zanu Pf ,but come election day they will come out victorious through hook and crook. Zanu PF is there to stay whether we like it or not.Whoever is in control of the army and the police and also appoints the Electoral Commission will always have the last laugh. If only the police and the military could say no to being used by the ruling party, maybe we can have a free and fair election. Personally I have vowed that I will never give a soldier or a policeman a lift even if I seeh him in the middle of nowhere let alone give him a room to rent in my house.

@chimuti.dnt be too angry wth yoself.not all cops are political, some are realy apolitical n just want to do their job.look at them as yo brothers n sisters.are all black pple rapists?About electios it may all be down to campaining hook line n sinker. There are plenty pple ,like farmers in rurals who will vow to vote for zanu bcoz of the land that has changed their lives ,tremendously.go to auction floors,yu will conclude yo inqiury as to why pple vote for zanu.Go to mutoko.I thot Madhuku confirmed that there was no rigging.mdc never responded to madhuku, madhuku, madhuku.meaning they new that.its just the politics.Mdc wants pple to cary them into power ,doing nothing besides walking n singing.I also like an intelligent opposition for accountability purposes n nudging zanu,bt sorry to say mdc is more like a gathering of career opportune seeking club.

The original mdc ,the beginning one,had clout ,than this one.clueless
