Gweru town clerk drags Kasukuwere to court

BULAWAYO - Suspended Gweru town clerk Daniel Matawu has dragged Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere to court challenging his suspension as well as the decision to unlawfully extend the tenure of the three commissioners the minister appointed to run the local authority.

Kasukuwere last year appointed a commission led by former Masvingo town clerk

Tsunga Mhangami to take care of the council’s affairs following the suspension of Gweru mayor Hamutendi Kombayi and 10 other councillors on allegations of corruption and misappropriation of funds.

Matawu, through his lawyers Chitere, Chidawanyika and Partners, yesterday filed a court application at the High Court here citing Kasukuwere, Gweru City Council and the three commissioners Mhangami, Mark Choga and Parenyi Chomunorwa as the respondents.
