Zambezi News off to Germany

HARARE - Zambezi News, Zimbabwe’s leading satirical comedy show, which features comical news presenters who delve into everyday issues ranging from politics to sport, will be showcased in Germany from May 2 to 4.

The satirical comedy, which received reviews at TEDxUHasselt in Belgium last month, is set to perform two live shows at the Re:publica event and Henrich Bolle Foundation events.

In addition to performing before major audiences, the Zambezi News cast which includes Samm “Comrade Fatso” Monro, Michael K and Outspoken, will also engage in panel discussions around the role of digital activism and satire in fighting for democracy in Zimbabwe.

Zambezi News co-creator Comrade Fatso told the Daily News that the trio was looking forward to the tour of Europe’s biggest economy.

“We can’t wait to perform our brand live show out in Germany with some incisive new jokes and skits. We are also really looking forward to sharing with the world how Zambezi News is using the Internet to spread its message in a repressive climate,” said Comrade Fatso.

The satirical comedy has been invited to many arts festivals that include Bush Fire Festival Swaziland. Two years ago they featured on Late Night News with Loyiso Gola in South Africa in addition to touring Hollywood.
